In a recent interview with The Times of London<\/a>, the “House of Cards” alum opened up about the “huge regret” she has as a mother to her two children, whom she shares with ex-husband Sean Penn, and explained why she left Hollywood and found love and peace in the English countryside.\u00a0<\/p>\n “I have a huge regret as a mother and have experienced the fallout of this regret for many years with my kids \u2014 I wasn\u2019t hard enough on them,” said Wright, who shares daughter Dylan, 34, and son, Hopper, 32, with Penn.\u00a0<\/p>\n ROBIN WRIGHT REVEALS WHY SHE WAS SPOTTED WITH EX SEAN PENN IN RECENT REUNION PHOTOS<\/a><\/p>\n Robin Wright opens up about her “huge regret” when it comes to parenting the two children she shares with ex Sean Penn.\u00a0 (Getty Images)<\/p>\n “But [Sean] was gone so much of the time,” she continued. “He\u2019d come back and be the policeman and then he\u2019d leave me with the residue. Then I would soften the blow. We were both extremes. They didn\u2019t get that gray area in the middle, which is stern, and that is what they needed.”<\/p>\n Wright and Penn tied the knot in 1996 and finalized their divorce in 2010.<\/a> They first began dating in 1989 after Penn divorced Madonna.\u00a0<\/p>\n In 2014, Wright opened up about her divorce from Penn to The Telegraph<\/a> and explained why they would break things off and get back together so often.<\/p>\n “Divorce in and of itself, and with children, is devastating. Worse than that,” she told the outlet at the time. “One of the reasons why we got back together and broke up so much was trying to keep the family together. There\u2019s a freedom of self here. People are so kind,” she said. “They\u2019re living. They\u2019re not in the car in traffic, panicked on a phone call, eating a sandwich. That\u2019s most of America. Everything\u2019s rush, competition and speed.”<\/p>\n She added, “Everyone\u2019s building a huge house and I\u2019m just done with all that \u2014 I love the quiet. And I\u2019ve met my person. The fast track. We did a fast-track getting to know you because we were lying in bed deathly ill, crying, laughing, hugging, loving, snogging, f—ing,” said Wright. “Just like, \u2018I want to know you.\u2019”\u00a0<\/p>\n “I love being alone and I\u2019ve done that many times.
