{"id":115762,"date":"2025-09-03T03:18:24","date_gmt":"2025-09-03T03:18:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/115762\/"},"modified":"2025-09-03T03:18:24","modified_gmt":"2025-09-03T03:18:24","slug":"yrsa-daley-ward-novel-the-catch-optioned-for-tv-remake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/115762\/","title":{"rendered":"Yrsa Daley-Ward Novel &#8216;The Catch&#8217; Optioned For TV Remake"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tEXCLUSIVE: Blue Therapy maker <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/osun-group\/\" id=\"auto-tag_osun-group\" data-tag=\"osun-group\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Osun Group<\/a> has optioned its first book in the shape of <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/yrsa-daley-ward\/\" id=\"auto-tag_yrsa-daley-ward\" data-tag=\"yrsa-daley-ward\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Yrsa Daley-Ward<\/a>\u2018s fiction novel <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/the-catch\/\" id=\"auto-tag_the-catch\" data-tag=\"the-catch\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Catch<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThis will see Daley-Ward making her TV screenwriting debut by adapting the book, which is billed as a \u201csupernatural thriller exploring sisterhood, identity, and the radical act of choosing yourself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tEarly stage work has begun on an adaptation for a returning series, marking Osun\u2019s first book-to-screen acquisition and a first scripted project unveiled from a slate of projects. Osun\u2019s Head of Drama, <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/sheila-nortley\/\" id=\"auto-tag_sheila-nortley\" data-tag=\"sheila-nortley\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sheila Nortley<\/a>, who first worked with Daley-Ward on the 2011 indie feature David is Dying, struck the option agreement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tDaley-Ward, Supacell exec Nortley and Osun founder Luti Fagbenle are executive producers, with the process of finding a showrunner, director and on-screen talent underway.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe Catch, published in July, follows estranged twin sisters Clara and Dempsey, whose lives are upended when Clara, a celebrity author craving validation, spots a woman in London who looks exactly like their long-vanished mother \u2013 unchanged by time and unburdened by motherhood. She is convinced this is their mother returned, while the reclusive Dempsey suspects a con. The sisters collide over the stranger\u2019s identity, and are propelled toward a reckoning that threatens their very existence and forces them to confront the wounds of their past.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe book was selected for the New York Times Book Review Book Club and included on summer read lists by the likes of The Washington Post, TIME, USA Today and Forbes. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cThe Catch asks, \u2018What if the person you fear most and the person you long for most were the same?\u201d said Daley-Ward. \u201cI\u2019ve often wondered what it would be like to meet my mother again, not as she was, but as I am. The TV adaptation takes that unsettling question and spins it into an edgy, psychological suspense about family, obsession, and the terror of recognition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tNortley called the book \u201cboth vast and otherworldly, yet so deeply intimate and tragically human,\u201d adding, \u201cYrsa\u2019s storytelling has a way of getting under the skin and holding a mirror up to our most uncomfortable truths. To have such a bold and inventive novel as our first scripted adaptation at Osun Group is both an honour and a statement of intent. I can\u2019t wait to bring it to the screen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tDaley-Ward, who splits her time between L.A. and London, began her career as a poet, curating deeply personal prose through her Instagram feed. The Catch is her debut fiction novel following her poetry collection The Terrible. She also collaborated with Beyonce, co-writing Black is King, the visual album inspired by Disney+\u2019s The Lion King.
