The staff for the anime based on ONE<\/a> and Y\u016bsuke Murata<\/a>‘s One Punch Man<\/a> manga announced on Wednesday that the third season<\/a> will premiere on October 5 at 11:45 p.m. JST (10:45 a.m. EDT) on the TV Tokyo<\/a>, TV Hokkaido<\/a>, TV Aichi<\/a>, TV Osaka<\/a>, TV Setouchi<\/a>, and TV Kyushu<\/a> channels. The staff also unveiled a visual and commercial that previews the new opening theme “Get No Satisfied!” song<\/a> by JAM Project<\/a> with metal group BABYMETAL<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The announcement also revealed more staff members for the anime. Shinpei Nagai<\/a> (Inugami-san to Nekoyama-san<\/a>, DOGEZA: I Tried Asking While Kowtowing.<\/a>) is directing teh anime at J.C. Staff<\/a>. Tomohiro Suzuki<\/a> returns from previous seasons of the anime for series composition. Chikashi Kubota<\/a> also returns from previous seasons as character designer, but this time alongside Shinjiro Kuroda<\/a> and Ry\u014dsuke Shirakawa<\/a>. Sakura Murakami<\/a> is now the art director (Murakami previously worked on background art for the second season, with Shigemi Ikeda<\/a> and Yukiko Maruyama<\/a> previously credited as art directors for the second season). Mayumi Tanahashi<\/a> returns as color designer from the second season. Yuki Hirose<\/a> is now the director of photography (replacing Yoshio \u014ckouchi<\/a> from the previous season). Masahiro Got\u014d<\/a>, Yoshikazu Iwanami<\/a>, and Makoto Miyazaki<\/a> all return from the second season as editor, sound director, and music composer, respectively.. <\/p>\n

Makoto Furukawa<\/a> performs the new ending theme song<\/a> “Soko ni Aru Akari” (“The Light, That’s There”). <\/p>\n

JAM Project performed<\/a> the opening theme songs<\/a> for the anime’s first two seasons: “The Hero!! ~Ikareru Ken ni Hon\u014d o Tsukeru~” (The Hero!! Set Fire to the Furious Fist) and “Seijaku no Apostle” (“Uncrowned Greatest Hero”), respectively. JAM Project, which stands for Japan Animation-song Makers, features Hironobu Kageyama<\/a> (Dragon Ball Z<\/a>, Sonic X<\/a>, Saint Seiya<\/a>, Shin Getter Robo<\/a>), Masaaki Endoh<\/a> (Cowboy Bebop<\/a>, GaoGaiGar: King of Braves<\/a>, Cybuster<\/a>), Hiroshi Kitadani<\/a> (One Piece<\/a>, Bakuto Sengen Daigunder<\/a>, Saint Beast<\/a>), Masami Okui<\/a> (Revolutionary Girl Utena<\/a>, Di Gi Charat<\/a>, Scrapped Princess<\/a>, Slayers), and Yoshiki Fukuyama<\/a> (Macross 7<\/a>, Buso Renkin<\/a>, Overman King Gainer<\/a>, Ehrgeiz<\/a>). <\/p>\n

Viz acquired<\/a> the theatrical, television, digital, home entertainment, ancillary, and merchandise rights for the third season across North America, Latin America, and Oceania and will stream the series in October. Crunchyroll<\/a> will stream<\/a> the anime in Europe and the Middle East in fall.<\/p>\n

J.C. Staff is returning from the second season to animate the series. Madhouse<\/a> animated the first season.<\/p>\n

Chikashi Kubota (Corpse Princess: Aka<\/a>, FLCL Progressive<\/a>) is back to design the characters, along with Shinjiro Kuroda and Ry\u014dsuke Shirakawa. Tomohiro Suzuki (ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Dept.<\/a>) is again in charge of the series scripts. Makoto Miyazaki (Triage X<\/a>, Dragon Crisis!<\/a>) is also returning to compose the music.<\/p>\n

The new season’s returning cast members include Makoto Furukawa as Saitama, Hikaru Midorikawa<\/a> as Garou, and Daisuke Namikawa<\/a> as Dr. Genus.<\/p>\n

The first anime season aired<\/a> in Japan from October to December 2015. Viz Media<\/a> and Daisuki<\/a> both<\/a> streamed<\/a> the series outside of Japan as it aired. The anime premiered<\/a> with an English dub<\/a> on Adult Swim<\/a>‘s Toonami<\/a> block in July 2016. Viz Media released the first season on home video in North America.<\/p>\n

The second season began<\/a> with a television special in April 2019, then the first episode premiered one week later. Viz Media acquired<\/a> the master license<\/a> to the second anime season, including digital streaming, TV broadcast, electronic sell-through, home media, and merchandising rights for North America, Latin America, and Oceania. The company streamed the show as a Hulu<\/a> exclusive. Crunchyroll streamed<\/a> the series in Europe, excluding French- and German-speaking Europe, and in the Middle East and North Africa.<\/p>\n

Y\u016bsuke Murata and ONE launched<\/a> the One Punch Man manga on Shueisha<\/a>‘s free “Tonari no Young Jump<\/a>” website in 2012. The series is a remake of ONE’s original web manga of the same name. Viz Media is releasing the series digitally in its Weekly Shonen Jump<\/a> manga anthology, and is also releasing the series in print.<\/p>\n

The entertainment industry news website Deadline reported<\/a> in June 2022 that Sony Pictures<\/a> is setting up Justin Lin to direct a live-action film adaptation<\/a> of the manga. The Hollywood Reporter reported<\/a> in April 2024 that Rick and Morty co-creator and Community creator Dan Harmon<\/a> and screenwriter Heather Anne Campbell are rewriting the script.<\/p>\n
