\n\tFrankie Muniz<\/a> says the \u201cMalcolm in the Middle<\/a>\u201d reboot may not be what fans are expecting.<\/p>\n

\n\tDuring a recent appearance on the \u201cLightweights<\/a>\u201d podcast, Muniz said long-time fans may be \u201csurprised\u201d after they see what the Wilkerson family has been up to during their 20-year absence.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI think people will be surprised, in a sense, where everybody is and the story,\u201d Muniz said. \u201cIt\u2019s hard to fit in 20 years of stuff into four 30-minute episodes, right? But I think people are going to be very happy with what they came up with.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMuniz beamed when discussing his return to the early-aughts family sitcom, describing his experience shooting the reboot as \u201cthe best time of my entire life.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019m not exaggerating when I say filming this reboot, like I loved it so much, way more than I ever thought I could have,\u201d he said. \u201cWe ended in May, and I haven\u2019t talked to anybody since, you know what I mean? I\u2019ve been gone. I\u2019ve only been home, I think, for 12 days since the beginning of the year. I\u2019m just always crazy, and I think next week, I\u2019m going to have time. I\u2019m going to reach out [to the rest of the cast].\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe original \u201cMalcolm in the Middle\u201d ran for 151 episodes across seven seasons from 2000 to 2006. The four-part reboot sees Muniz reunited with original cast members Bryan Cranston<\/a>, Jane Kaczmarek, Christopher Masterson and Justin Berfield.<\/p>\n

\n\tErik Per Sullivan, who played the youngest Wilkerson child, Dewy, did not return<\/a> for the new episodes. The role was instead played by Caleb Ellsworth-Clark. Other new cast members include Kiana Madeira<\/a>, Anthony Timpano, Vaughan Murrae and Keeley Karsten.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn an interview with People, Cranston said he \u201cmissed\u201d playing Hal Wilkerson<\/a> and loved returning to the world of \u201cMalcolm in the Middle.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s been almost 20 years since we said goodbye,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd he\u2019s a sweet, lovable man. He\u2019s a lovable guy, and it was fun to see my whole family back together. It was great.\u201d<\/p>\n
