California Gov. Gavin Newsom tore into JD Vance for reinventing himself as a Trump supporter\u2014and twisted the knife by ridiculing his physical makeover, too.<\/p>\n
Newsom on Tuesday posted a compilation of resurfaced clips of Vance declaring himself a \u201cnever Trump guy,\u201d in a 2016 interview<\/a> with Charlie Rose, and saying that he \u201ccan\u2019t stomach Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cGrew a beard and lost his spine,\u201d Newsom wrote alongside the video, poking fun at the clean-shaven look Vance used to sport.<\/p>\n Newsom further mocked the vice president\u2019s appearance<\/a>, writing, \u201cBut at least he kept the eyeliner.\u201d<\/p>\n Vance has never addressed whether he wears makeup. But Vance\u2019s wife, Usha<\/a>, and disgraced former U.S. Rep. George Santos<\/a> both claimed that the vice president doesn\u2019t wear eyeliner.<\/p>\n In the videos shared by Newsom, Vance offered harsh critiques of Trump, ranging from his sexual assault allegations to the \u201cnoxious\u201d direction he was taking the \u201cwhite working class,\u201d he said in a 2016 NPR interview<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cAt the end of the day, do you believe Donald Trump, who always tells the truth? Just kidding. Or you believe the woman on that tape,\u201d Vance said in a 2016 MSNBC interview, after a New York Times article<\/a> alleged Trump touched two women inappropriately.<\/p>\n In another 2016 clip, Vance agreed with sports broadcaster Matt Jones, calling Trump \u201ca fraud.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI agree with you on Trump, because I don\u2019t think that he\u2019s the person,\u201d Vance said. \u201cI don\u2019t think he actually cares about folks.\u201d<\/p>\n
