\n\tThe \u201cTomb Raider<\/a>\u201d live-action series at Amazon Prime Video<\/a> is getting ready to shoot. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe series adaptation of the video game franchise is officially set to begin production on Jan. 19, 2026. In addition, Amazon MGM Studios has confirmed for the first time that Sophie Turner<\/a> will star in the series as Lara Croft. The show was originally greenlit at Prime Video in May 2024<\/a>, with Turner\u2019s involvement first reported in November<\/a> of that year. The show was first reported as being in development at the streamer in January 2023. <\/p>\n

\n\tAs previously reported, Phoebe Waller-Bridge<\/a> will serve as creator, writer, and executive producer on the series. But now, Chad Hodge has boarded the show as executive producer and co-showrunner alongside Waller-Bridge. Jonathan van Tulleken will serve as director and executive producer. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019m so excited to announce the formidable Sophie Turner as our Lara alongside this phenomenal creative team,\u201d Waller-Bridge said. \u201cIt\u2019s not very often you get to make a show of this scale with a character you grew up loving. Everyone on board is wildly passionate about Lara and are all as outrageous, brave, and hilarious as she is. Get your artifacts out\u2026 Croft is coming\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tTurner is the latest high-profile actress to take on the role of Croft. The globetrotting adventurer was previously portrayed onscreen in two films by Angelina Jolie and in another by Alicia Vikander.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am thrilled beyond measure, to be playing Lara Croft,\u201d Turner added. \u201cShe\u2019s such an iconic character, who means so much to so many \u2013 and I am giving everything I\u2019ve got. They\u2019re massive shoes to fill, following in the steps of Angelina and Alicia with their powerhouse performances, but with Phoebe at the helm, we (and Lara) are all in very safe hands. \n\tThe series is executive produced by: Crystal Dynamics; Waller-Bridge and Jenny Robins via Wells Street Productions; Dmitri M. Johnson, Mike Goldberg and Timothy I. Stevenson of Story Kitchen; Michael Scheel; Hodge; van Tulleken; and Legendary Television. The series is produced by Story Kitchen, Crystal Dynamics and Amazon MGM Studios. Waller-Bridge is currently under an overall deal at Amazon MGM Studios. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe \u201cTomb Raider\u201d series was developed under a pact between Crystal Dynamics and Amazon MGM Studios which comes via Story Kitchen\u2019s first-look deal with the studio to develop additional \u201cTomb Raider\u201d stories into series and films.<\/p>\n

\n\tHodge\u2019s recent writing credits include the films \u201cSingle All the Way\u201d and \u201cThe Darkest Minds,\u201d as well as the TV series \u201cGood Behavior.\u201d He also previously created shows like \u201cWayward Pines,\u201d \u201cThe Playboy Club,\u201d and \u201cRunaway.\u201d van Tulleken has previously helmed episodes of \u201cShogun,\u201d \u201cDope Thief,\u201d \u201cUpload,\u201d and \u201cTop Boy.\u201d <\/p>\n
