HIDIVE<\/a> streamed an incomplete version of episode 21 of the television<\/a> anime<\/a> of Moto’o Nakanishi<\/a>‘s Sword of the Demon Hunter Kijin Gentosho<\/a> novel series on Sunday due to scheduling constraints for the simulcast<\/a> release, according to the streamer. The episode aired with missing frames, filters, and notable graphic effects. HIDIVE confirmed on Monday that will begin streaming the final version “as quickly as possible.”<\/p>\n

ANN reached out to HIDIVE, and it replied with the following official statement:\n <\/p>\n

Yesterday, HIDIVE streamed the new Episode 21 of the popular supernatural historical fantasy series Sword of the Demon Hunter Kijin Gentosho (Season 1, Part 2). As part of our commitment to subscribers and in order to meet the show’s simulcast schedule, the Licensor provided an interim version of the episode to release as scheduled on September 1. HIDIVE strives to always deliver the high quality content that fans have come to expect and is rolling out the final version as quickly as possible for subscribers to enjoy.<\/p>\n

The Bakumatsu arc began on July 14.<\/p>\n

The anime premiered<\/a> with a one-hour special first episode on the Tokyo MX<\/a> channel on March 3. It also aired on BS Fuji<\/a> and MBS<\/a> on April 1. Starting with the second episode, the anime moved to its regular timeslot on Tokyo MX on April 7 at 12 midnight JST (effectively, April 8), then on MBS and BS Fuji on April 8. The anime will air for two consecutive cours<\/a> (quarters of a year).<\/p>\n

HIDIVE is streaming<\/a> the anime. Episodes stream on Mondays at 11:00 a.m. EDT.<\/p>\n

The anime was delayed<\/a> from its July 2024 premiere after a planned one-hour special in June that same year, due to production delays.<\/p>\n

The anime stars Taku Yashiro<\/a> as Jinta, Reina Ueda<\/a> as Suzune, and Saori Hayami<\/a> as Shirayuki.<\/p>\n

Kazuya Aiura<\/a> (Assassins Pride<\/a>, Hori-san to Miyamura-kun (OAV)<\/a> is directing the anime at Yokohama Animation Lab<\/a>. Deko Akao<\/a> (Assassins Pride, Arakawa Under the Bridge<\/a>, Noragami<\/a>) is overseeing the series scripts, Tar\u014d Ikegami<\/a> (Lapis Re:LiGHTs<\/a>) is designing the characters, and Ryuuichi Takada<\/a>, Keiichi Hirokawa<\/a>, and Kuniyuki Takahashi<\/a> from MONACA<\/a> are composing the music.<\/p>\n

Hilcrhyme<\/a> are performing the ending theme song “Sen-ya Ichi-ya feat. Izumi Nakasone<\/a> (HY<\/a>)” (One Thousand and One Nights).<\/p>\n

Seven Seas Entertainment<\/a> is releasing<\/a> both the novel series and its manga adaptation in English, and it describes the story:<\/p>\n

\tIn the Edo era, young Jinta and his sister must flee their home, finding refuge in a mountain village. Years later, Jinta has grown into a skilled swordsman, sworn to protect the priestess of the village shrine. Charged with slaying a demon that threatens the shrine, Jinta confronts the malevolent creature in the forest, only to learn a shocking truth. The demon speaks of events one hundred and seventy years hence, when Jinta must confront the demon in the future. Thus begins an epic fantasy journey that spans multiple eras as Jinta hunts a demon through time and must come to terms with his own dark nature.<\/p>\n

Nakanishi published the first novel volume, titled Suih\u014d no Hibi (Days of Nothing), in June 2019 with art by Tamaki<\/a>. The series’ 14th and final volume shipped in November 2023.<\/p>\n

Futabasha<\/a> published the first compiled book volume of Yu Satomi<\/a>‘s manga adaptation of the novels in September 2021, and the eighth volume shipped on March 19. The manga runs in Monthly Action<\/a> magazine.<\/p>\n
