The announcement, which came just weeks after they <a onclick=\"_sendArticleBodyInlineLinkClickAnalytics(&#039;https:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/talking-heads-star-david-byrne-engaged-to-businesswoman-mala-gaonkar\/&#039;)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/talking-heads-star-david-byrne-engaged-to-businesswoman-mala-gaonkar\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/talking-heads-star-david-byrne-engaged-to-businesswoman-mala-gaonkar\/\">soft-launched their engagement<\/a> in an interview with The Sunday Times, was made in a now-expired note on Byrne\u2019s Instagram Stories. \u201cI\u2019m getting married this week, and made an almost entirely instrumental playlist while our guests eat an amazing and spicy dinner,\u201d he wrote. \u201cMy sense is that words &amp; lyrics can be distracting \u2014 the ear goes to them, especially if it\u2019s a song one knows.\u201d He added, \u201cSo, I opted for buoyant instrumentals that will create a hopeful and joyous atmosphere \u2026 and that folks can also ignore at the same time.\u201d Gaonkar, 55, is a businesswoman and hedge fund manager who has collaborated with Byrne on several immersive visual projects since 2016.
