Angel Reese will not be a free agent until 2028 but she is already threatening to leave the Chicago Sky. The 23-year-old power forward needs more from the organization.<\/p>\n

It sounds more like a demand than a request.<\/p>\n

Reese, a second-year player in the WNBA<\/a>, is not willing to play for a team that is going nowhere. She apparently thinks very little of her current teammates.<\/p>\n

The Chicago Sky was terrible, again.<\/p>\n

To be completely fair to Reese, she has played a lot better in 2025 than she did as a rookie in 2024. Her numbers are up across the board. She is averaging 14.6 points, 12.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.<\/p>\n

And yet, the Chicago Sky is still one of the worst teams in the league at 9-30.<\/p>\n

It went 1-9 without Reese on the floor due to an injury. It went 8-21 when Reese was playing.<\/p>\n

As things currently stand, the Sky will either receive the first or second overall pick in next year\u2019s draft.<\/p>\n

Angel Reese demands better.<\/p>\n

Although Reese\u2019s current contract will likely keep her in Chicago through 2027, she is fully prepared to leave if things do not get better in each of the next two seasons. That starts with the roster.<\/p>\n

Her current teammates are not up to her standards.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not settling for the same s\u2014 we did this year,\u201d she told the Chicago Tribune<\/a>. \u201cWe have to get good players. We have to get great players. That\u2019s a non-negotiable for me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reese said she is willing to do whatever it takes to upgrade the talent around her. In doing so, she directly insulted the players who are currently on the team. They are simply not good enough.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m willing and wanting to play with the best,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd however I can help to get the best here, that\u2019s what I\u2019m going to do this offseason. So it\u2019s going to be very, very important this offseason to make sure we attract the best of the best because we can\u2019t settle for what we have this year.\u201d<\/p>\n

If the Chicago Sky does not add better players, invest more money into its facilities and\/or improve its coaching staff, its star player is going to leave. The current situation will not cut it.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am very vocal about what we need and what I want,\u201d Reese added. \u201cI\u2019d like to be here for my career, but if things don\u2019t pan out, obviously I might have to move in a different direction and do what\u2019s best for me. But while I am here, I\u2019m going to try to stay open-minded about what I have here and maximize that as much as I can.\u201d<\/p>\n

Yikes. I understand the frustration. Losing sucks!<\/p>\n
