{"id":11769,"date":"2025-07-21T01:17:08","date_gmt":"2025-07-21T01:17:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/11769\/"},"modified":"2025-07-21T01:17:08","modified_gmt":"2025-07-21T01:17:08","slug":"bryson-dechambeau-says-if-he-thinks-hes-finally-cracked-links-golf-after-his-final-three-rounds-at-royal-portrush","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/11769\/","title":{"rendered":"Bryson DeChambeau says if he thinks he&#8217;s finally cracked links golf after his final three rounds at Royal Portrush"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Bryson DeChambeau has been quite simply superb during his last three rounds of The Open Championship.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegolfinggazette.com\/tag\/bryson-dechambeau\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">DeChambeau<\/a> got off to a horror start at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegolfinggazette.com\/tag\/the-open-championship\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Open<\/a>, carding a seven-over par 78 on day one.<\/p>\n<p>However, the 31-year-old American bounced back admirably, with rounds of 65, 68 and 64.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegolfinggazette.com\/news\/bryson-dechambeau-says-hes-developing-a-new-piece-of-golf-equipment-which-could-really-help-him-at-the-open-in-future\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">DeChambeau suggested he\u2019s developing a new ball to help him at The Open<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The LIV golfer has notoriously struggled with flighting his ball down below the wind.<\/p>\n<p>And that was a real issue for him on day one at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegolfinggazette.com\/tag\/royal-portrush\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Royal Portrush<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>That said, he has proven over the past three days that he is more than capable of contending in Open Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Bryson DeChambeau discusses links golf after final three rounds at The Open<\/p>\n<p>The two-time US Open champion showed his class after his first round 78 at Portrush.<\/p>\n<p>He fought back incredibly hard, and will ended up finishing inside the top-10 \u2013 an immense effort considering how his week began.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/GettyImages-2225810654-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Bryson DeChambeau acknowledges the crowd on the 18th green during day two of The 153rd Open Championship\" class=\"wp-image-80948\" \/>Photo by Christian Petersen\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>After his final round, DeChambeau was asked whether he believes his last three rounds at The Open will end up being a turning point for his career.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cYeah, look, it was fair conditions the past few days. I always told you guys I like it when it\u2019s fair conditions. I can play well. I still have to crack the code when it\u2019s raining and windy. But I feel like we\u2019re getting close to some opportunities and solutions for that. It just takes a long time to develop stuff, I\u2019m starting to learn.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a fun three days. I was really proud of the way I turned it around and gave myself actually some hope on the third round, after I was 3-under. That first nine I thought, okay, if I go shoot 4- or 5-under on the back and give myself a chance on Sunday, throw myself up there and go out and play just as good as I did, like I did today, I could be right up there and giving Scottie a run.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cScottie\u2019s in a league of his own right now. I played with him a lot in college, and he was not that good, so he\u2019s figured out a lot of stuff since then.
