The match all comes down to moments and you create a few moments based on how you do things and how you&#8217;re comfortable doing those things.&#8221;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nLAST TIME OUT<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tThe Waves earned the second shutout in a row, beating Columbia 3-0 in Malibu.&#13;<br \/>\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/pepperdinewaves.com\/sports\/womens-soccer\/roster\/layla-simon\/5551\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"5551\" target=\"_blank\">Layla Simon<\/a> notched her first collegiate goal as a freshman.\u00a0&#13;<br \/>\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/pepperdinewaves.com\/sports\/womens-soccer\/roster\/tabitha-laparl\/5505\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"5505\" target=\"_blank\">Tabitha LaParl<\/a> secured her first goal of the season, leading Pepperdine with five points.\u00a0&#13;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/>\nGAME NOTES<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n\tFive matches into the season, Wynalda has started all five, averaging over 60 minutes per match.&#13;<br \/>\n\tLeading the team through five matches, LaParl has five points with one goal and three assists.&#13;<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tThrough her career, the LaParl has amassed 10 goals and 10 assists, including six goals and two assists last season to be the top offensive returner for the Waves.&#13;<br \/>\n\tWynalda has scored 19 goals with eight assists throughout her career.&#13;<br \/>\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/pepperdinewaves.com\/sports\/womens-soccer\/roster\/jillian-medvecky\/5508\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"5508\" target=\"_blank\">Jillian Medvecky<\/a> has 25 saves so far on the season, averaging 5.0 per match.&#13;<br \/>\n\tThe Waves are coming off a 2024 season which saw the program&#8217;s fifth WCC Championship after finishing (6-1-3) in the conference. The title was split with Santa Clara who posted the same mark in the WCC.&#13;<br \/>\n\tPepperdine returns nine of the starting 11 from last season.&#13;<br \/>\n\tThe last time the program won back-to-back conference titles was 2016 &amp; 2017 as Pepperdine looks to win the WCC outright for just the second time ever.&#13;<br \/>\n\tPepperdine has scored nine goals this season by eight different players.&#13;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nSERIES HISTORY<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tPepperdine will face Arizona State for just the 10th time in program history Thursday.&#13;<br \/>\n\tOverall, the Waves are 3-3-3 against the Sun Devils with the last win coming in 2006.\u00a0&#13;<br \/>\n\tThe last matchup was a decade ago in 2015, resulting in a 0-5 loss.&#13;<br \/>\n\tThe Waves last visited Phoenix in a 0-1 loss in 2012.&#13;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nSCOUTING THE SUN DEVILS<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tArizona State has not lost a game this season, posting a 4-0-2 record with the ties coming against Texas and Northern Arizona.\u00a0&#13;<br \/>\n\tMost recently, the Sun Devils beat New Mexico State 1-0 at home.&#13;<br \/>\n\tThree different players have netted two goals for ASU, while Cameron Valladares leads the team in assists with five.&#13;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThe game Thursday is slated for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
