Hot on the heels of \u201cSaltburn,\u201d Emerald Fennell<\/a> and Jacob Elordi<\/a> have teamed up for another work of British class commentary<\/a>. The \u201cEuphoria\u201d star leads Fennell\u2019s upcoming adaptation of Emily Bront\u00eb\u2019s novel \u201cWuthering Heights<\/a>\u201d alongside Margot Robbie<\/a>, a project that instantly became the talk of the town when it went out to market in 2024.<\/p>\n

The film<\/a> eventually landed at Warner Bros.<\/a> (despite reports of a more lucrative offer from Netflix for a streaming-only release), which has it slated for a Valentine\u2019s Day weekend 2026 release.<\/p>\n

Despite the star power attached on both sides of the camera, \u201cWuthering Heights\u201d was the source of some controversy when it was first announced. Elordi plays Heathcliff, the romantic anti-hero who is discovered on the streets before being taken in by a wealthy member of Britain\u2019s landed gentry, only to fall in love with their daughter. Language in Bront\u00eb\u2019s original novel suggests that the character is non-white (though he has previously been played by the likes of Laurence Olivier, Ralph Fiennes, Timothy Dalton, and Tom Hardy), and many voices online suggested that the role should have gone to an actor of color.<\/p>\n

The casting director for the film, Kharmel Cochrane, defended the casting choice back in April, saying at a Q&A at the Sands Film Festival in Scotland<\/a> that these things are open to interpretation. <\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s definitely going to be some English Lit fans that are not going to be happy,\u201d Cochrane said. \u201cThere was one Instagram comment that said the casting director should be shot. But just wait till you see it, and then you can decide whether you want to shoot me or not. But you really don\u2019t need to be accurate. It\u2019s just a book. That is not based on real life. It\u2019s all art.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hong Chau, \u201cSaltburn\u201d actor Alison Oliver, and Shazad Latif also star in \u201cWuthering Heights.\u201d <\/p>\n

Robbie will next be seen in Kogonada\u2019s \u201cA Big Bold Beautiful Journey,\u201d which she stars in alongside Colin Farrell. Elordi is currently filming Season 3 of \u201cEuphoria\u201d and will soon be seen in Guillermo del Toro\u2019s \u201cFrankenstein\u201d and Ridley Scott\u2019s \u201cThe Dog Stars.\u201d<\/p>\n

Warner Bros. will release \u201cWuthering Heights\u201d in theaters on February 13, 2026.
