{"id":118461,"date":"2025-09-04T04:47:06","date_gmt":"2025-09-04T04:47:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/118461\/"},"modified":"2025-09-04T04:47:06","modified_gmt":"2025-09-04T04:47:06","slug":"pistachio-products-sold-at-mississauga-bakery-recalled","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/118461\/","title":{"rendered":"pistachio products sold at Mississauga bakery recalled"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Several pistachio-containing products sold at a Mississauga bakery in May are being recalled due to possible salmonella contamination.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The products were sold at Soltan Bakery at 109-808 Britannia Rd. between May 17 and May 30.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The recalled products are:<\/p>\n<p>Assbeh with PistachioKol O Shkor with PistachioSwar with PistachioTurkish Assbeh with PistachioBalaurieh with PistachioBasma with PistachioBorma with PistachioEash Alesfur with PistachioBaklava with Pistachio<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) <a href=\"https:\/\/recalls-rappels.canada.ca\/en\/alert-recall\/various-pistachio-containing-products-recalled-due-salmonella-2\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/recalls-rappels.canada.ca\/en\/alert-recall\/various-pistachio-containing-products-recalled-due-salmonella-2\">said in an advisory<\/a> on Wednesday that the recall is linked to an ongoing salmonella outbreak involving various brands of pistachios and pistachio-containing products.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cFood contaminated with salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick,\u201d the CFIA said. Short-term symptoms include fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The agency advised throwing out the recalled products or returning them to the seller.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The CFIA has issued more than a dozen food recall notifications <a href=\"https:\/\/recalls-rappels.canada.ca\/en\/alert-recall\/habibi-brand-pistachio-kernel-recalled-due-salmonella\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/recalls-rappels.canada.ca\/en\/alert-recall\/habibi-brand-pistachio-kernel-recalled-due-salmonella\">since July 25<\/a>, when a Habibi brand Pistachio Kernel was ordered to be taken off store shelves.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/public-health\/services\/public-health-notices\/2025\/outbreak-salmonella-infections-pistachios-related-products.html\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/public-health\/services\/public-health-notices\/2025\/outbreak-salmonella-infections-pistachios-related-products.html\">As of Aug. 19<\/a>, there have been 62 confirmed cases of Salmonella connected to the outbreak, 11 of which are in Ontario. According to the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), a two-year-old child was among the individuals who became sick.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cMany people who became sick reported eating pistachios, and products containing pistachios, such as Dubai-style chocolate and pastry products,\u201d PHAC said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cThe outbreak strains of salmonella that made people sick were found in samples of the recalled Habibi brand pistachios and samples of the recalled Dubai brand Pistachio &amp; Knafeh Milk Chocolate. The investigation is ongoing and it is possible that additional sources may be identified.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">PHAC noted that the actual number of cases is likely higher, as many may have mild symptoms and do not get tested.
