ERIE, Pa.\u00a0\u2013 The 2024-25 Gannon men’s golf team continued a highly-successful run in recent years. But in his first season overseeing the men’s golf team Scott Stano<\/a> accomplished something never done before \u2013 win the PSAC Championship. Giovanni Delorenzi<\/a> (Reggio Emilia, Italy\/International School of Modena) (Sr.):\u00a0 Delorenzi was the third Golden Knight named to the PING All-Atlantic Region Team and is now a three-time All-PSAC honoree, earning first team honors the last two years. The native of Italy had a 73.1 average over 32 rounds with three top-5 and seven top-10 showings. \nThe long-time women’s coach guided Gannon to its first-ever PSAC title in the fall. In the spring the Golden Knights finished in a tie for first place in the Atlantic\/East Regional Tournament with Davis & Elkins and went on to compete in the NCAA Division II National Championships. All told Gannon won seven tournaments.

\nStano welcomes back plenty of key players from last year, and with several newcomers bolstering the roster, Stano sees the 2025-26 Golden Knights exceeding those accomplishments.

\n“We are excited for who has returned, but also very excited about the incoming freshman,” Stano pointed out. “The depth of this team is a huge asset for us. For us to take the next step, we need to continue to work hard and trust the process. We need to eliminate stupid mistakes that can lead to double bogeys and continue to play in strong tournaments. Playing against the best teams, best players and putting themselves in that spot, will get everyone prepared for PSAC’s as well as NCAA’s in May.\u00a0

\n“We are traveling out to the midwest quite a bit early on and some of those teams will be nationally ranked. Every returning player learned a lot from playing at Nationals last year, and we all will use that huge experience to help us build towards our ultimate goal for the third week in October and for the month of May.”

\nAfter building the Gannon women’s golf team into the dominant program in the PSAC Stano assumed the role of Men’s Director of Golf a year ago and took an experienced team to the next level. The Golden Knights won their first-ever PSAC Championship, tied for first in the NCAA Div. II Atlantic\/East Regional and went on to compete in the NCAA Div. II National Championships.\u00a0\u00a0

\nTop Returnees:
\nMattia Parrini<\/a> (Verolengo, Italy\/Verolengo) (Jr.): One of two returning honorable mention PING All-Americans. The native of Italy was named the 2024-25 PSAC Athlete of the Year after winning the PSAC individual crown. Parrini led the Golden Knights with a 72.2 average over 32 rounds with eight top-5 finishes. He won three tournaments, including finishing at 8-under par 208 over 54 holes in the PSAC Tournament.

\nRasmus Seppanen<\/a> (Bastad, Sweden\/Akademi Bastad Gymnasium) (R-Jr.): Gannon’s other PING honorable mention All-American earning the honor in his first season in the lineup. The former Wagner transfer was a first team All-PSAC honoree. He finished with a 72.8 average over 32 rounds with five top-5 and seven top-7 finishes. The native of Sweden finished in a tie for 11th at the NCAA Div. II National Championships after coming in second at the NCAA Atlantic\/East Regional.<\/p>\n

\nTop Newcomers:
\nWhile Stano is still assessing preseason qualifying rounds it’s apparent he has plenty of depth that includes numerous returnees along with several newcomers. Most noteworthy among the 2025-26 additions \u2013 Flip Anderson an import from Sweden and Sam Brennan<\/a> (Colorado Springs, Co.\/Air Academy), a native of Colorado. Both are freshmen, as is Canadian native Dan Moses<\/a> (Garibaldi Highlands, British Columbia\/Howe Sound Secondary School), another player to keep an eye on.
