{"id":120305,"date":"2025-09-04T21:52:12","date_gmt":"2025-09-04T21:52:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/120305\/"},"modified":"2025-09-04T21:52:12","modified_gmt":"2025-09-04T21:52:12","slug":"2nd-person-dies-police-say","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/120305\/","title":{"rendered":"2nd person dies, police say"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">A 24-year-old woman has died from the injuries she sustained in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ctvnews.ca\/toronto\/local\/york\/article\/5-family-members-in-hospital-after-being-rescued-from-burning-home-in-richmond-hill\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.ctvnews.ca\/toronto\/local\/york\/article\/5-family-members-in-hospital-after-being-rescued-from-burning-home-in-richmond-hill\/\">a house fire in Richmond Hill on Monday<\/a>, York Regional Police say.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">In a news release on Thursday, police confirmed the victim, Helya Bahari-Kashani, died in the hospital the previous day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">She is the second person killed in the fire that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cp24.com\/local\/toronto\/2025\/09\/03\/arson-at-richmond-hill-home-claims-life-of-11-year-old-child-police\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.cp24.com\/local\/toronto\/2025\/09\/03\/arson-at-richmond-hill-home-claims-life-of-11-year-old-child-police\/\">has also claimed the life of an 11-year-old girl<\/a>. Police said the three others, believed to be ages 70, 59, and 42, who were rescued at the scene remain in critical condition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The fire broke out shortly before 3 a.m. in a residence near Skywood Drive and Rollinghill Road. Officials said crews pulled out four people trapped inside the house, while a fifth person was located outside.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Sources told CP24 earlier this week that all five patients are members of the same family.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">A red gas canister was visible underneath a tree near the home at the time of the fire and police confirmed on Wednesday that arson is suspected.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cThe incident is being investigated as a homicide,\u201d police said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Investigators do not have suspect information at this time.
