BOX SCORE<\/a> <\/p>\n ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Concordia Texas women’s soccer team claimed a 3-1 victory over Howard Payne University in their season opener. Three different Tornados found the back of the net at Citizen National Bank Field on Thursday.<\/p>\n The agressors for the majority of the game, the Tornados outshot the Yellowjackets 18-8 (12-4 on goal). Concordia’s back line also kept goalkeeper Luke Briggs<\/a> (three saves) clean in his debut.<\/p>\n In an action packed first half that saw all four goals, the Tornados got on the board early when Alejandro Rojas<\/a> connected with Brian Rios in the 8th.\u00a0<\/p>\n On an aggressive counter attack, Edmond Elone<\/a>\u00a0would make it 2-0 in the 24th. The Yellowjackets would make it 2-1 just two minutes later, but CTX would carry a 3-1 lead into the break thanks to Jesse Garfias<\/a> finding Benjamin Ponce<\/a> in the 33rd.<\/p>\n Concordia Texas will next travel to Abilene, Texas to take on Hardin-Simmons on Tuesday, September 9th.
