Caitlin Clark<\/a> is out for the remainder of the WNBA season due to an injury, the Indiana Fever star announced on Thursday, Sept. 4.\n<\/p>\n

Clark<\/a>, 23, who was the 2024 number one pick, had been limited to 13 games this season. She has not appeared on the court since July 15, when she suffered a right groin injury in the final minute of the game, per ESPN<\/a>. She also suffered a bone bruise late in the recovery process, according to the Fever<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n

The Indiana Fever guard<\/a> shared several black-and-white photos of herself on the court and with her teammates on Instagram.\n<\/p>\n

“I had hoped to share a better update, but I will not be returning to play this season,” she captioned the post, before noting that she “spent hours in the gym every day” attempting to rehabilitate her injury.\n<\/p>\n

“Disappointed isn\u2019t a big enough word to describe how I am feeling. I want to thank everyone who had my back through all the uncertainty. This has been incredibly frustrating, but even in the bad, there is good,” Clark continued.\n<\/p>\n

She went on to thank her teammates and the fans for forming a supportive community.\n<\/p>\n

“The way the fans continued to show up for me, and for the Fever, brought me so much joy and important perspective. I am so proud of how this team has only gotten stronger through adversity this year. Now it\u2019s time to close out the season and claim our spot in the Playoffs\ud83d\udda4,” Clark wrote.\n<\/p>\n

Several of her teammates wished her well in the comments. “2026 going to be the best season yet \ud83e\udd73,” Lexie Hull wrote, while Aliyah Boston added, “Miss you big dawgggggggg\u2764\ufe0f\u2764\ufe0fyou\u2019ll be back.”\n<\/p>\n

“Caitlin has worked so hard throughout this time, doing everything possible to recover and return to the court but, ultimately, time is not on our side,” Fever chief operating officer and general manager Amber Cox said in a statement.\n<\/p>\n

Cox continued, “While we will continue working with Caitlin and provide her with every resource we have available, there is not enough time left in our season for her to safely return, and her long-term health and well-being remains our top priority. We are looking forward to having her back at full strength to start the 2026 season.”\n<\/p>\n
