It comes after actress Julia Garner confirmed she will be portraying Madonna in her new biopic despite a series of delays leaving the film in question.

The American actress, 31, revealed that she will definitely be starring as the Queen of Pop and that it is currently ‘a work in progress’.

Julia enthusiastically told W Magazine: ‘Yeah! I can’t say too much about it, but yes, it’s a work in progress’.

As far as the Ozark stars favourite Madonna songs, she added: ‘I love Borderline, that’s probably my favourite. I also love Papa Don’t Preach. I love Burning Up. I love Confessions on a Dance Floor. I grew up with that album. Obviously Vogue, and Ray of Light.

‘I love all of Madonna basically is what I’m trying to say,’ Garner continued. ‘But definitely, I think Borderline and Papa Don’t Preach are probably my two favourite Madonna songs. And I just love Madonna’s voice on Papa Don’t Preach. There’s a lot of emotions in that song and I love that.’

Julia signed on to the project last year which has been in development since 2020, with Madonna slated to direct and write the film.

But the movie appeared to have been put on the back burner as no further progress was ever announced.

Last month, Julia spoke on the SmartLess podcast with Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes and confirmed the film is in the works and recalled having to dance in front of Madonna during her audition.

She said: ‘I kind of just wanted to see if I could do it.

‘I wasn’t a trained dancer and I had to learn how to dance and then dance in front of [Madonna] and convince her that I can dance, basically, and sing. And sing with her!

‘I just thought what would Madonna do, which is convince you that she deserves to be in this room, and I owned it. I was like, “You can take it or leave it. But if you leave it, then that’s on you.”‘

On the film’s delays, she added: ‘Anything that’s great, takes a long time.’

Madonna has been persistent in her years-long effort to have a movie about her life made.

In 2023 she got to work on a biopic called Who’s That Girl, a nod to her 1987 film and song of the same name.

Madonna showcased her smooth complexion as she enjoyed a romantic dinner with boyfriend Akeem Morris at the swanky Il Gattopardo…

[32
49,48,361,2093,75,4472,1543,9112
post-122241","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-celebrities","tag-ca","tag-canada","tag-celebrities","tag-dailymail","tag-entertainment","tag-london","tag-madonna","tag-tvshowbiz
["GET
