Lheidli T\u2019enneh Memorial Park will be the starting point for tomorrow\u2019s (Saturday) Parkinson SuperWalk.<\/p>\n
The walk brings community members together to raise funds for support programs, services, along with advocacy and awareness for those with the disease.<\/p>\n
Selen Alpay, who\u2019s in the early stages of his Parkinson\u2019s, talks about his experience with the disease.<\/p>\n
\u201cA lot of my many dear friends are the best medication I can get, because they distract me from the disease.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s not that the disease is difficult to deal with, because you can control it with medications these days, but it it going to progress further, further, and further.\u201d<\/p>\n
Alpay said a lot of people with the disease aren\u2019t getting any kind of support, or the support they should be getting, with the north not getting the support that we deserve.<\/p>\n
One of the supports needed is a Local Mobility Clinic, which can only be found in either Vancouver, Victoria, or Kelowna.<\/p>\n
The SuperWalk will begin at 11:30 a.m. at\u00a0 Lheidli T\u2019enneh Memorial Park\u2019s picnic shelter.<\/p>\n
