Kennedy Jr.<\/a>, the secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services \u2014 and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tvinsider.com\/show\/real-time-with-bill-maher\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Real Time With Bill Maher;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Real Time With Bill Maher<\/a> host didn\u2019t mince words with his blunt assessment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">On Friday, September 5, the late-night host, 69, briefly mentioned RFK Jr., 71, during his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Juh4jkZ2Xk4\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:opening monologue;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">opening monologue<\/a> recapping recent news about President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tvinsider.com\/people\/donald-trump\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Donald Trump;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Donald Trump<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cThe knives are out for Bobby Kennedy, and I gotta say, I\u2019m with the knives,\u201d Maher confessed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Later, during the panelist segment of Real Time, Maher reflected on Kennedy\u2019s three-hour Senate hearing on September 4. The health secretary <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/sections\/shots-health-news\/2025\/09\/04\/nx-s1-5528966\/rfk-kennedy-hearing-covid-vaccines-cdc\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:struggled to defend major vaccine changes;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">struggled to defend major vaccine changes<\/a> that limit access to the COVID-19 vaccine and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2025\/08\/27\/g-s1-85911\/cdc-director-susan-monarez-ousted-leaders-resign\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:firing of CDC director Susan Monarez;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">firing of CDC director Susan Monarez<\/a> under his leadership.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cI personally find this very disappointing because I am the person who was sympathetic to what [Kennedy] was trying to do,\u201d Maher told the panel. \u201cI said, \u2018Finally, we have a guy in there who cares about this stuff.\u2019 But he\u2019s also just nutty.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Earlier this week, 1,000 current and former <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Health\/1000-current-former-hhs-employees-sign-letter-calling\/story?id=125184233\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention employees signed a letter;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention employees signed a letter<\/a> calling for Kennedy to resign and accusing him of appointing \u201cpolitical ideologues.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cHe\u2019s just too nutty,\u201d Maher reiterated.. \u201cHe just does not listen. I mean, he just is. And nothing ever \u2014 I call it pendulumism \u2014 nothing ever stops in the middle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">He continued, \u201cOK, this needed a housecleaning, the CDC. But to fire all 17 of the top people? Now you don\u2019t have that voice in there at all.
