SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The nationally-ranked No. 25 Concordia University Irvine women’s soccer squad debuted on the road to open the 2025 season on Saturday.<\/p>\n
The team was amped up to match up with the host Cal State San Bernardino Yotes and racked up 15 shots.\u00a0 Ashley Grubert<\/a> put both of her two shot attempts on goal and CUI managed to put seven on target as a group. However, none could find the back of the net.<\/p>\n Senior and reigning Co-PacWest Goalkeeper of the Year Riley Urquiza<\/a> collected seven saves to anchor the CUI defense.<\/p>\n Unfortunately for the Green and Gold, the Yotes were awarded a penalty kick in the second half and converted to tally the only goal of the entire match.<\/p>\n Six different Golden Eagles made their debut for CUI. This included freshmen Avery Munoz<\/a> and Kalli Cho<\/a> and transfers Elle Soleau<\/a> and Sloane De Torres<\/a> who were all a part of the Starting XI.<\/p>\n Anjelina Nieto<\/a> and Ella Cook<\/a> also saw their first action in a Concordia uniform to help the effort off the bench.<\/p>\n The Golden Eagles are back in action this coming Wednesday, Sept. 10 at 5 p.m. before preparing for their home opener on Saturday, Sept 13 at 6:30 p.m.<\/p>\n
