{"id":125354,"date":"2025-09-06T23:48:03","date_gmt":"2025-09-06T23:48:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/125354\/"},"modified":"2025-09-06T23:48:03","modified_gmt":"2025-09-06T23:48:03","slug":"astros-reinstate-cf-jake-meyers-after-nearly-2-months-on-il","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/125354\/","title":{"rendered":"Astros reinstate CF Jake Meyers after nearly 2 months on IL"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ARLINGTON, Texas &#8212; The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/team\/_\/name\/hou\/houston-astros\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Houston Astros<\/a> reinstated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/40719\/jake-meyers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jake Meyers<\/a> from the injured list before Saturday&#8217;s game at Texas after the center fielder spent nearly two months sidelined with a calf injury.<\/p>\n<p>Meyers hasn&#8217;t played since July 9, when the aggravation of a strained right calf forced him to leave Houston&#8217;s game against Cleveland with the help of a trainer before the first pitch was thrown.<\/p>\n<p>The 29-year-old Meyers is hitting .308 with three home runs and 21 RBIs.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Adding Jake, his defense and his offensive production he&#8217;s been showing this year, it stretches our lineup a little bit more,&#8221; Astros manager Joe Espada said before Saturday&#8217;s game. &#8220;Excited to have him back.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Meyers, who has hit seventh most frequently in the batting order this season, was ninth in Espada&#8217;s lineup on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Espada said Meyers&#8217; status is currently &#8220;one day at a time.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve got to see how he obviously reacts to the workload,&#8221; said Espada.<\/p>\n<p>The Astros (77-65) have gone 22-28 since Meyers was sidelined.
