{"id":125518,"date":"2025-09-07T01:30:13","date_gmt":"2025-09-07T01:30:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/125518\/"},"modified":"2025-09-07T01:30:13","modified_gmt":"2025-09-07T01:30:13","slug":"rempe-meets-with-fans-at-nhl-shop-in-manhattan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/125518\/","title":{"rendered":"Rempe meets with fans at NHL Shop in Manhattan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nothing was going to stop fans from traveling from near and far to the NHL Shop to meet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/matt-rempe-8482460\" title=\"Matt Rempe\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Matt Rempe<\/a> on Saturday, not even a heavy rainstorm in Manhattan.<\/p>\n<p>The New York Rangers forward, who signed a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/news\/matt-rempe-signs-2-year-contract-with-new-york-rangers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">new two-year contract<\/a> with the team in June, spent his afternoon greeting fans who came to town from all over the state for a signing event at the League\u2019s flagship store.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGoing through the rain and everything, it was awesome,\u201d Rempe told NHL.com after the event. \u201cGot to talk to lots of great people. It was lots of fun. Lots of fans and lots of great conversations. I really appreciate them all taking the time to come out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brian and Kienan Walsh, a father-son duo, took the hour-and-a-half train ride from Poughkeepsie, NY to meet Rempe. Kienan is celebrating his 9th birthday on Monday, so his Dad surprised him with a trip to the store.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI told [Kienan] we were going to the [NHL Shop] today for his birthday,\u201d Brian said. \u201cHe realized Matt [Rempe] was going to be here, so when he came up to the door and saw the poster he got really excited.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kienan plays hockey himself and got Rempe to sign his travel team jersey which \u2013 like Rempe\u2019s sweater \u2013 has the number 73.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s not a coincidence.<\/p>\n<p>He started his hockey journey with the Rangers Learn To Play program and chose the number 73 because of Rempe. He\u2019s used the number ever since.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis feels like a dream!\u201d Kienan said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe looks up to [Rempe],\u201d added Brian. \u201cReally great experience.
