The 2025 Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony is over half finished, and the latest performance award was just handed out to\u00a0Merritt Wever\u00a0from\u00a0Severance. It is her third career win (after\u00a0Godless\u00a0and\u00a0Nurse Jackie), this time for Best Drama Guest Actress. Oscar and Emmy winner\u00a0Jamie Lee Curtis\u00a0announced the category. She defeated other\u00a0Severance\u00a0guest stars\u00a0Jane Alexander\u00a0and\u00a0Gwendoline Christie,\u00a0Cherry Jones\u00a0(The Handmaid’s Tale), and\u00a0Kaitlyn Dever\u00a0and\u00a0Catherine O’Hara\u00a0(The Last of Us).<\/p>\n

Earlier in the evening, Best Comedy Guest Actor was just handed out to Bryan Cranston of The Studio. It’s his seventh career Emmy after prevailing four times as the lead actor on Breaking Bad and two times as a producer for the same series. Nominee Gwendoline Christie announced the category. He defeated last year’s winner Jon Bernthal (The Bear), plus Dave Franco, Ron Howard, Anthony Mackie, and Martin Scorsese (all from The Studio).<\/p>\n

\"Father<\/a> \"Sydney<\/a> <\/p>\n

The ceremony started with a bang on Saturday night, with\u00a0Maya Rudolph\u00a0handing out the first award to\u00a0Julianne Nicholson\u00a0of\u00a0Hacks. She won for Best Comedy Guest Actress, her second career victory after\u00a0Mare of Easttown\u00a0in 2021. Nicholson defeated\u00a0Olivia Colman\u00a0(The Bear), last year’s winner\u00a0Jamie Lee Curtis\u00a0(The Bear),\u00a0Cynthia Erivo\u00a0(Poker Face),\u00a0Robby Hoffman\u00a0(Hacks), and\u00a0Zo\u00eb Kravitz\u00a0(The Studio).<\/p>\n

The ongoing event is being held Sept. 6\u20137 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. The two nights of ceremonies honor the year\u2019s best artistic and technical achievements across scripted, unscripted, and variety programming.<\/p>\n

Last year, Sh\u014dgun dominated with a record-breaking 14 Creative Arts victories \u2014 then added four more during Primetime, setting an all-time high with 18 total wins, including Best Drama Series.<\/p>\n

This year, the race is just as fierce. Apple TV+\u2019s Severance leads all series with 27 nominations, followed by The Studio topping the comedy field with 23 and HBO’s The Penguin dominating limited series with 24.<\/p>\n

Across the weekend, 97 awards are being handed out \u2014 51 on Saturday for scripted series and telefilms, and 46 on Sunday for nonfiction, reality, and variety categories. The competition now builds toward the Primetime Emmys<\/a> on Sept. 14 on CBS and Paramount+. Read on for the full list of winners.<\/p>\n
