{"id":125808,"date":"2025-09-07T04:43:14","date_gmt":"2025-09-07T04:43:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/125808\/"},"modified":"2025-09-07T04:43:14","modified_gmt":"2025-09-07T04:43:14","slug":"amanda-anisimova-reveals-she-suffered-a-shock-to-the-system-during-warm-ups-before-us-open-final-defeat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/125808\/","title":{"rendered":"Amanda Anisimova reveals she suffered a &#8216;shock to the system&#8217; during warm-ups before US Open final defeat"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Amanda Anisimova was looking to perform better in her second Grand Slam final than she did in her first\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/wimbledon-told-they-need-to-make-a-rule-change-to-the-womens-final-after-iga-swiateks-demolition-of-amanda-anisimova\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Anisimova lost 0-6, 0-6, to Iga Swiatek<\/a> in the Wimbledon final, suffering one of the most devastating defeats in modern Grand Slam history.<\/p>\n<p>Bouncing back in remarkable fashion, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/amanda-anisimova-claimed-to-have-made-tennis-history-as-she-reaches-the-us-open-final\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Anisimova qualified for the US Open final<\/a> just two months later, securing a revenge win over Swiatek along the way.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/GettyImages-2233592727-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Amanda Anisimova and Iga Swiatek embrace after their semifinal match at the 2025 US Open\" class=\"wp-image-126917\" \/>Photo by Elsa\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Standing between Anisimova and the US Open title was the world number one and defending champion <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/aryna-sabalenka\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Aryna Sabalenka<\/a>, who set foot on Arthur Ashe Stadium with a point to prove, having already lost two Grand Slam finals in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Improving her record to 1-2, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/aryna-sabalenka-makes-confident-prediction-about-amanda-anisimova-after-beating-her-in-the-us-open-final\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sabalenka defeated Anisimova<\/a> 6-3, 7-6, retaining her US Open crown in style.<\/p>\n<p>Anisimova played much better than she did in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/wimbledon\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Wimbledon<\/a> final, but seemed frustrated throughout the match.<\/p>\n<p>During her post-match press conference, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/amanda-anisimova\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Anisimova<\/a> explained what was wrong, revealing what she noticed during the warm-ups.<\/p>\n<p>Amanda Anisimova realized she couldn\u2019t see the ball when serving during her warm-up<\/p>\n<p>At various points throughout the match, Anisimova was seen complaining about the lights above the court.<\/p>\n<p>During a changeover, the American star asked the chair umpire if anything could be done, but was disappointed to be told that she would just have to adjust.<\/p>\n<p>In her post-match press conference, Anisimova explained how much of an impact the lights had on her serving.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI haven\u2019t played on the court during the day with the roof closed; it was literally white,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI couldn\u2019t see the ball when I was serving, the whole match.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/GettyImages-2233437704-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Amanda Anisimova looks on ahead of the 2025 US Open final\" class=\"wp-image-127717\" \/>Photo by CHARLY TRIBALLEAU\/AFP via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think, starting from the warm-up, I was thinking this is going to be a real problem for me.
