<\/p>\n Seminole, Okla. \u2013 UT Tyler women’s soccer earned its second straight win to open the 2025 season, defeating East Central 1-0 on Saturday afternoon. A first-half penalty kick from Ella Anderson<\/a> proved to be the difference as the Patriots completed their Oklahoma road trip unbeaten.<\/p>\n The Patriots dictated much of the tempo in the opening half, creating several chances before breaking through in the 23rd minute. After being fouled in the box, Anderson\u00a0stepped to the spot and converted her penalty to give UT Tyler the early lead. The goal was her first of the season and stood as the eventual game-winner.<\/p>\n UT Tyler continued to press forward in the first 45 minutes, generating seven total shots and forcing multiple saves. Anderson and the offense remained active, combining for several efforts that kept the opposing goalkeeper busy. The Patriot defense, meanwhile, stayed organized and held the Tigers\u00a0to just two shots on frame in the half to carry the advantage into the break.<\/p>\n The second half saw East Central increase its offensive urgency, but the Patriots responded with another composed defensive effort. Emily Clark<\/a> started in goal and made two saves in the opening 70 minutes before giving way to Robbi Curry<\/a>, who added two more stops in the second half. Together, they preserved UT Tyler’s first\u00a0clean sheet of\u00a0the season.<\/p>\n On the stat sheet, the Patriots finished with 11 total shots, including six on target, while holding East Central to eight attempts and just four on frame. UT Tyler and the tigers both had 2\u00a0corner kicks in a match that had 28 fouls total.<\/p>\n With the victory, UT Tyler improves to 2-0-0 and returns home with momentum following back-to-back non-conference\u00a0wins in Oklahoma to begin the year. The Patriots will look to build on their strong start as non-conference play continues next week in their home opener against Northeastern State at 6 p.m.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
