article font size<\/p>\n<p>Felix Auger-Aliassime has withdrawn from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scotiabank-centre.com\/events\/davis-cup\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Canada\u2019s upcoming Davis Cup tie<\/a> due to fatigue after <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/news\/11397082\/us-open-tennis-auger-aliassime-semi-final-skinner\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">competing in the U.S. Open<\/a>, Tennis Canada announced on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/70c8fc80.png\" alt=\"\" style=\"position:absolute;width:1px;height:1px\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The World Group I tie between Canada and Israel is set to take place Sept. 12-13 in Halifax.<\/p>\n<p>The tie will determine which of the two nations will advance to compete in next year\u2019s Davis Cup Qualifiers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tenniscanada.com\/news\/pro-tennis\/2025\/canada-hungary-2025-davis-cup-qualifers-sunday\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Canada was relegated to World Group I after a 3-2 loss to Hungary in February\u2019s<\/a> first-round qualifier in Montreal.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"170\" height=\"225\" loading=\"lazy\" day.<\/p>\n<p>Auger-Aliassime is coming off a quality run through the U.S. Open, where he made it to the semifinals on Friday as the 25th seed.<\/p>\n<p>The Montreal native was ousted by world No. 1 Jannik Sinner of Italy in four sets.<\/p>\n<p>Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n<p>It was Auger-Aliassime\u2019s second semifinal appearance at a Grand Slam and first since the U.S. Open in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>The 25-year-old defeated third-seeded Alexander Zverev, No. 15 seed Andrey Rublev and eighth-seeded Alex de Minaur before seeing Sinner in the semifinals.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/news\/11340565\/davis-cup-halifax\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">The Davis Cup event in Halifax has already been the focus of some controversy<\/a>, with hundreds of people, including at least one former Olympian, signing a letter calling on Tennis Canada to cancel the event amid increasing global condemnation of Israel\u2019s conduct in Gaza and the West Bank.<\/p>\n<p>Tennis Canada said in a statement that it \u201cacknowledges the ongoing and deeply complex situation in the Middle East\u201d but that the Davis Cup tie will go ahead, adding that \u201cits role is to promote the sport and provide opportunities for players and fans while ensuring the Halifax tie is contested in a safe and professional environment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u2014
