Bill Maher has slammed Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr for his recent controversial moves while in charge of the nation\u2019s health, admitting that he has \u201cgot to go.\u201d<\/p>\n

RFK Jr, a longtime vaccine skeptic, testified before the Senate Finance Committee<\/a> Thursday. During the fiery, three-hour hearing, Kennedy defended his recent actions including firing <\/a>Centers for Disease Control and Prevention<\/a> head Susan Monarez,<\/a> as well as<\/a> his stances on vaccines, autism, and Medicaid. <\/p>\n

Reacting to Kennedy\u2019s testimony on the latest episode of his Real Time show, Maher said: \u201cI personally find this very disappointing because I am the person who was sympathetic to what [Kennedy] was trying to do. <\/p>\n

\u201cI said, \u2018Finally, we have a guy in there who cares about this stuff.\u2019 But he\u2019s also just nutty.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Senate hearing saw both Democrats and Republicans grill Kennedy over his attempts to restrict public access to vaccines<\/a>. The HHS chief has long promoted the idea that vaccines are linked to autism, and has criticized the process and mandates for the Covid-19 vaccine.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s just too nutty,\u201d Maher continued. \u201cHe just does not listen. I mean, he just is. And nothing ever \u2014 I call it pendulumism \u2014 nothing ever stops in the middle.\u201d<\/p>\n

While the TV host agreed that the CDC was in need of a \u201chousecleaning,\u201d he asked: \u201cBut to fire all 17 of the top people? Now you don\u2019t have that voice in there at all. You just have your voice.\u201d<\/p>\n

In June, Kennedy removed all 17 sitting members of the CDC\u2019s vaccine advisory committee<\/a>. He claimed the move would restore Americans\u2019 trust in the healthcare system and ensure that they receive \u201cthe safest vaccines possible.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maher confessed that it \u201cpains\u201d him to criticize Kennedy, but concluded: \u201cIt\u2019s just \u2014 he\u2019s got to go.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kennedy, son of late Attorney General Robert F Kennedy, and nephew of late President John F. Kennedy, appeared as a guest on Real Time with Bill Maher in April 2024. <\/p>\n

During the interview, Maher challenged Kennedy\u2019s claims that the Covid vaccine killed people. \u201cI\u2019m somebody who did not want the vaccine, and didn\u2019t think I should be made to get it,\u201d Maher insisted. \u201cBut it does work.\u201d<\/p>\n

As the Trump administration\u2019s health secretary, Kennedy launched the Make America Healthy Again Commission<\/a>. The initiative seeks to help Americans lose weight and exercise more to reduce chronic diseases.<\/p>\n

Last week, over 1,000 current and former staff from Kennedy\u2019s department<\/a> signed an open letter, accusing him of \u201ccompromising the health of the nation,\u201d and demanded he step down.<\/p>\n
