A nurse manager has received the title of Queen’s Nurse in recognition of her commitment to patient care.<\/p>\n
Emma Kennedy, at Hilary Cottage Surgery, in Fairford, Gloucestershire, was awarded the title by the Queen’s Nursing Institute (QNI).<\/p>\n
Ms Kennedy has worked at the surgery for 19 years and currently manages a team of nurses and pharmacists there.<\/p>\n
She said: “It reflects my dedication to my patients and has renewed my passion for nursing, boosting my enthusiasm to continue to strive for the best for my patients every day.”<\/p>\n
Ms Kennedy is also the registered manager for Friends of Fairford and Lechlade Communities, a local charity which was established by her mother, also a nurse.<\/p>\n
The charity provides end of life care to people and works with the GP surgery.<\/p>\n
Ms Kennedy has also facilitated other ventures, such as a bereavement cafe. <\/p>\n
Ms Kennedy added: “I feel incredibly proud to have been awarded the Queen’s Nurse title in recognition of my nursing, leadership and charity work within both general practice and end of life care over the past 19 years.”<\/p>\n
The title is open to any nurse with at least five years’ experience working in the community, and is a formal recognition of being part of a network of nurses committed to giving outstanding care, according to the QNI.<\/p>\n
