{"id":129966,"date":"2025-09-09T00:12:08","date_gmt":"2025-09-09T00:12:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/129966\/"},"modified":"2025-09-09T00:12:08","modified_gmt":"2025-09-09T00:12:08","slug":"martin-brundle-reveals-christian-horner-surprise-text-message-after-red-bulls-italian-gp-win","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/129966\/","title":{"rendered":"Martin Brundle reveals Christian Horner surprise text message after Red Bull&#8217;s Italian GP win"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former Formula 1 driver and Sky Sports F1 analyst <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsport.com\/driver\/martin-brundle\/585\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Martin Brundle<\/a> revealed the personal message that Christian Horner sent to him after Red Bull&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsport.com\/driver\/max-verstappen\/17529\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Max Verstappen<\/a> won the Italian Grand Prix.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Horner was replaced with immediate effect as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsport.com\/team\/red-bull-racing\/4\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Red Bull Racing<\/a> CEO and team principal on 9 July by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsport.com\/team\/racing-bulls-12\/12\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Racing Bulls<\/a> team chief Laurent Mekies after a 20-year stint with the team. His exit came on the back of several high-profile exits and a slump in performance, made worse by McLaren&#8217;s current dominance in the 2025 season, although the reason for his replacement has not been officially confirmed.<\/p>\n<p>Verstappen&#8217;s win at Monza marked the first win for the Milton Keynes outfit since Horner&#8217;s departure.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA message from Christian Horner here actually,\u201d Brundle said during the Sky Sports F1 broadcast, \u201csaying, \u2018This was our worst race last year. We had the wrong downforce level,\u2019 and how hard the team have worked on that package and done a great job. Of course, they\u2019ve turned it around.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The four-time champion secured the win after starting from pole position and held a comfortable lead over the McLarens of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsport.com\/driver\/lando-norris\/289316\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Lando Norris<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsport.com\/driver\/oscar-piastri\/828689\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Oscar Piastri<\/a>, who finished second and third.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Yeah, it was a great day for us. Of course, that one was a bit unlucky but then after that, we were flying, the car was really enjoyable. I could manage the pace quite well. I think the whole weekend we were on it, and it&#8217;s super enjoyable to win here.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He added: &#8220;I could see that immediately the pace is quite good, I just needed to settle in.
