<\/p>\n EAST LANSING, Mich. \u2014 The Golden Grizzlies fell 2-3 in another near-comeback effort to Michigan State on Monday.<\/p>\n The first half began with Michigan State. applying early pressure, registering multiple shots in the opening minutes. Despite a strong defensive effort from Cole Thompson<\/a>, Oakland found themselves trailing after a goal by Peter Soudan in the 18th minute, followed by additional goals from Luke Spadafora and Miles Merritt. Oakland responded in the 31st minute with a goal by Evan Combs<\/a>, from an assist by Marco Mazzei<\/a>, narrowing the deficit to 3-1 as the teams headed into halftime.<\/p>\n The second half began with Oakland looking to close the gap, and they accomplished just that when Tim Allos<\/a> scored in the 66th minute, assisted by Jace Foster<\/a> and Noah Roka<\/a>, bringing the score to 3-2.\u00a0<\/p>\n Despite a strong defensive effort, including a save from Cole Thompson<\/a> at the 60th minute, and a series of attempts on goal by Christopher Jean L\u00e9ger and Jace Foster<\/a>, Oakland was unable to find the equalizer. The Spartans held their lead, despite pressure from Oakland, leaving the final score at 3-2.<\/p>\n Evan Combs<\/a> earned his first career goal with his score. Tim Allos<\/a> also found the back of the net for goal number two of the season. Foster led all Golden Grizzlies with three shots, all of them registering on goal.<\/p>\n Despite the loss, Oakland put more shots on goal (7) than the Spartans (6), on nine shots total taken.<\/p>\n The next challenge for Oakland takes them on the road to Fort Wayne, Ind., where they will face Purdue Fort Wayne on Saturday.
