{"id":130966,"date":"2025-09-09T10:27:07","date_gmt":"2025-09-09T10:27:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/130966\/"},"modified":"2025-09-09T10:27:07","modified_gmt":"2025-09-09T10:27:07","slug":"guillermo-del-toro-teases-violent-new-project-with-oscar-isaac","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/130966\/","title":{"rendered":"Guillermo Del Toro Teases &#8216;Violent&#8217; New Project With Oscar Isaac"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tOn the heels of his <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/toronto\/\" id=\"auto-tag_toronto\" data-tag=\"toronto\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Toronto<\/a> International Film Festival premiere of Frankenstein, starring Oscar Isaac and Jacob Elordi, <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/guillermo-del-toro\/\" id=\"auto-tag_guillermo-del-toro\" data-tag=\"guillermo-del-toro\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Guillermo del Toro<\/a> announced a new gestating project called Fury, which will feature Isaac and is described as a \u201cviolent\u201d pic in the vein of a murderous My Dinner with Andre (1981).<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cI\u2019m writing a project to do with Oscar,\u201d the director told the <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/tiff\/\" id=\"auto-tag_tiff\" data-tag=\"tiff\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">TIFF<\/a> audience. \u201cI\u2019m writing it right now, and it\u2019s called Fury, and essentially it\u2019s going back to [the] sort of thriller aspects of Nightmare Alley \u2014 very cruel, very violent. Like My Dinner with Andre but [with] killing people after each course.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tHe continued, citing his reasoning for being drawn to the project: \u201cBecause I\u2019m very interested in the violence we do to each other, and we do it with our minds, we do it with our souls and we do it physically. And I think it\u2019s new questions [I\u2019m having]; I\u2019m 60 now, so I\u2019ve gone from asking where I\u2019m going and [being a] father and son to [experiencing] regret. I\u2019m in the regret decade, so expect a lot of regret.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAdditionally, the three-time Oscar winner confirmed he will be adapting a fantasy novel written by the Nobel Prize-winning Kazuo Ishiguro, which <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2023\/02\/guillermo-del-toro-the-buried-giant-new-animated-film-pinocchio-netflix-kazuo-ishiguro-1235269356\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Deadline exclusively announced<\/a> two years prior: \u201cI am, right now, preparing a stop-motion adaptation of The Buried Giant, the Kazuo Ishiguro novel. And it is going to be an epic stop-motion that is not going to be for kids.
