{"id":132317,"date":"2025-09-09T22:53:07","date_gmt":"2025-09-09T22:53:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/132317\/"},"modified":"2025-09-09T22:53:07","modified_gmt":"2025-09-09T22:53:07","slug":"roughriders-strive-to-make-a-loud-crowd-proud","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/132317\/","title":{"rendered":"Roughriders strive to make a loud crowd proud"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Another full house would constitute three of a kind for the Saskatchewan Roughriders.<\/p>\n<p>The Roughriders have played before back-to-back sold-out crowds \u2014 home and away against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers \u2014 entering Saturday\u2019s CFL game against the Montreal Alouettes (5 p.m., Mosaic Stadium).<\/p>\n<p>Saskatchewan has also sold out each of its past two home games.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll home games are amazing,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.riderville.com\/2025\/09\/09\/a-j-ouellette-september-9th\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">running back A.J. Ouellette said<\/a>. \u201cComing in here with the atmosphere, it\u2019s what you dream of as a kid.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Roughriders\u2019 attendance boom began on Aug. 16, when all 33,350 of Mosaic Stadium\u2019s permanent seats were occupied for a game against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.<\/p>\n<p>Then came an Aug. 23 showdown between the West Division\u2019s top two teams \u2014 the Roughriders and Calgary Stampeders \u2014 at McMahon Stadium. Although that game wasn\u2019t sold out, the Stampeders did welcome their largest crowd of the year (28,295).<\/p>\n<p>Saskatchewan then established an attendance record for new Mosaic Stadium (34,243) when the Blue Bombers visited for the 60th Labour Day Classic, played on Aug. 31 before a standing-room-only audience.<\/p>\n<p>Saskatchewan proceeded to improve its league-best record to 10-2 by winning 21-13 before 32,343 eyewitnesses at Winnipeg\u2019s Princess Auto Stadium last Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s great for the league,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.riderville.com\/2025\/09\/09\/corey-mace-september-9th\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Roughriders Head Coach Corey Mace said<\/a> of the huge turnouts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHopefully, as the years go on, you want to see that across every stadium. Even going into this week for us, it\u2019s not Labour Day but I expect a lot of people to put butts in seats and continue to help us, which they\u2019ve been doing all season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost importantly, I think it\u2019s just incredible for the guys to be out there to play in that atmosphere.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Especially as the games increase in importance down the stretch.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe fans are a huge help,\u201d Ouellette said, \u201cand we\u2019re going to need them going into the playoffs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Saskatchewan can secure a post-season berth by defeating Montreal on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ticketmaster.ca\/saskatchewan-roughriders-vs-montreal-alouettes-regina-saskatchewan-09-13-2025\/event\/110062479CC930B0?CAMEFROM=CFC_SASKATCHEWANRR_WEB_RIDERVILLE_TICKETS\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tickets start at $39.99 plus tax. Family packs (two adults, plus two youth within the 3-15 age range) are $99 plus tax.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>RIDERS RANKINGS<\/p>\n<p>The Roughriders are ranked first in the league in the following categories:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Average yards of net offence allowed (335.5 per game).<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Average rushing yards (75.3).<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Average time of possession (31:40).<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Big plays (39).<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Fewest opposing big plays (22).<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Interceptions made (18).<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Turnover ratio (plus-9).<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Sacks (34).<\/p>\n<p>Saskatchewan and the Toronto Argonauts are tied for first in completions of 30-plus yards (25).<\/p>\n<p>Individually, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.riderville.com\/2025\/09\/09\/trevor-harris-september-9th\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Trevor Harris<\/a> has the CFL\u2019s best quarterback efficiency rating (112.2).<\/p>\n<p>KeeSean Johnson is tied with the B.C. Lions\u2019 Keon Hatcher for first in receptions (66).<\/p>\n<p>Tevaughn Campbell is first in interceptions (six) and interception return yards (205). He has two more interceptions than anyone else in the league. He is 80 yards ahead of teammate Rolan Milligan Jr., who has the second-highest yardage total (on four picks).<\/p>\n<p>ON A ROLL IN THE HONOUR ROLL<\/p>\n<p>The Roughriders\u2019 offensive line graded out first overall in the CFL during Week 14, in the assessment of Pro Football Focus \u2014\u00a0which released its weekly Honour Roll on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Saskatchewan\u2019s O-line received a unit grade of 74.6. The team\u2019s top individual grades went to right tackle Jermarcus Hardrick (75.2), left tackle Payton Collins (69.7) and centre Logan Ferland (66.6).<\/p>\n<p>The Roughriders\u2019 offensive line has made the Honour Roll after six of the team\u2019s 12 games. (Saskatchewan has had two bye weeks to this point.)<\/p>\n<p>The Green and White\u2019s fine line was previously recognized after Week 1 (67.9), Week 2 (69.5), Week 4 (74.2), Week 9 (75.1) and Week 11 (62.1).<\/p>\n<p>INJURY UPDATE<\/p>\n<p>Campbell (head) was among six players who received the DNP (Did Not Practice) designation on Tuesday\u2019s injury report.<\/p>\n<p>He was joined by fellow defensive backs Marcus Sayles (leg), Jaxon Ford (knee) and Nelson Lokombo (ankle), cover linebacker C.J. Reavis (leg) and fullback Albert Awachie (hand).<\/p>\n<p>Receiver Samuel Emilus, who was missed the past five games with a knee injury, was a limited participant in Tuesday\u2019s walk-through.
