Rosie O\u2019Donnell told 60 Minutes Australia this week that she moved out of the United States<\/a> after Donald Trump\u2019s reelection because being here during his first term was not good for her mental health.<\/p>\n

Other celebrities, like Ellen DeGeneres and Portia di Rossi, made the decision shortly after Trump was reelected last November.<\/p>\n

Still others \u2014 like Jimmy Kimmel, who recently became an Italian citizen<\/a> \u2014 have considered departing or even threatened to leave, but have not yet done so. Kimmel has a TV show to host, after all.<\/p>\n

\tRosie O\u2019Donnell \u2013 Ireland<\/p>\n

Rosie O\u2019Donnell, who moved her family to Ireland this year, is a longtime nemesis of Trump\u2019s. He has gone so far as to threaten to revoke O\u2019Donnell\u2019s U.S. citizenship<\/a>, even though he does not have the constitutional power to do so.<\/p>\n

As a result, the former View host decamped, saying in a recent interview that it was a mental health decision<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy personal mental health comes first, and when he was in last time, I was not doing well.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\tEllen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi \u2013 The U.K.<\/p>\n

Ellen DeGeneres in July confirmed she and her wife, former actress Portia de Rossi, decided to permanently relocate to the UK<\/a> following the re-election of president\u00a0Donald Trump.<\/p>\n

The former talk show host said she and de Rossi were initially looking to settle in the country part-time, per BBC.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe got here the day before the election and woke up to lots of texts from our friends with crying emojis, and I was like, \u2018He got in.\u2019 And we\u2019re like, \u2018We\u2019re staying here,’\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n

DeGeneres continued of the decision, \u201cIt\u2019s clean. Everything here is just better \u2014 the way animals are treated, people are polite. I just love it here.\u201d<\/p>\n

\tSophie Turner \u2013 The U.K.<\/p>\n

Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner announced in October 2024 that she would be returning home to the U.K., not specifically because of Donald Trump, but because she was homesick. The political climate did, however, have something to do with it.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThe gun violence, Roe v Wade being overturned\u2026 Everything just kind of piled on,\u201d she said of events in the U.S. \u201cAfter the Uvalde [school] shooting, I knew it was time to get the fuck out of there.\u201d<\/p>\n

\tRobin Wright \u2013 The U.K.<\/p>\n

House of Cards star Robin Wright was clear about her view of the U.S.<\/a> in a recent interview with The Times U.K.<\/p>\n

\u201cAmerica is a s\u2014show,\u201d she said, without delving into specifics about politics or president Donald Trump.<\/p>\n

Wright has recently taken up residence in the rolling hills of the U.K. countryside.<\/p>\n

Of England, she added: \u201cI love being in this country. There\u2019s a freedom of self here. People are so kind. They\u2019re living. They\u2019re not in the car in traffic, panicked on a phone call, eating a sandwich. That\u2019s most of America. Everything\u2019s rush, competition and speed.\u201d<\/p>\n

\tEva Longoria \u2013 Spain & Mexico<\/p>\n

While it seemed to many that politically-active Eva Longoria had left the U.S. because of the election, she recently said that that is not the case.<\/p>\n

\u201cWill you please let them know I didn\u2019t move out of the United States because of Trump? \u2026 I\u2019ve been in Europe for almost three years,\u201d she explained<\/a> to \u2018View\u2019 co-host Ana Navarro on the Behind the Table podcast.<\/p>\n

Longoria noted that work \u2013\u00a0including her CNN series Eva Longoria: Searching for Spain \u2013 has taken her out of the country.<\/p>\n

\tJames Cameron \u2013 New Zealand<\/p>\n

Three-time Oscar winner James Cameron revealed in February that his New Zealand citizenship is \u201cimminent\u201d<\/a> after President Donald Trump was elected for a second term, noting the move is \u201csomething I\u2019ve worked toward, something I\u2019ve had to sacrifice for.<\/p>\n

\u201cI see a turn away from everything decent,\u201d he told NZ\u2019s Stuff of the U.S. under Trump. \u201cAmerica doesn\u2019t stand for anything if it doesn\u2019t stand for what it has historically stood for. It becomes a hollow idea, and I think they\u2019re hollowing it out as fast as they can for their own benefit.\u201d<\/p>\n

\tCourtney Love \u2013 The U.K.<\/p>\n

While she\u2019s lived in the UK for years, Courtney Love revealed in March that she had applied for citizenship.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m really glad I\u2019m here,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s so great to live here. I\u2019m finally getting my British citizenship in six months. I get to be a citizen.\u201d<\/p>\n

She then held forth on the political and cultural climate in the U.S.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn terms of Trump and particularly this group\u2026it\u2019s like emperor-core. Like, [they\u2019re] wearing million-dollar watches,\u201d Love observed. \u201cEmperor-core is going on at Mar-a-Lago. It\u2019s frightening now.
