The Seattle Storm clinched the eighth and final WNBA playoff spot with a win over the Golden State Valkyries. <\/p>\n
Seattle’s win eliminated the Los Angeles Sparks, but the Sparks still played a massive role in the playoff race. <\/p>\n
Los Angeles’ victory over the Phoenix Mercury confirmed the Mercury would not be a top-three seed.<\/p>\n
Seattle became the eighth and final team to lock in a playoff spot with its win over Golden State.<\/p>\n
The Storm will be the No. 8 seed and face the top-seeded Minnesota Lynx in the first round.<\/p>\n
Seattle’s win shifted around the spots directly in front of it as well. Golden State dropped to the No. 7 seed while the Indiana Fever moved up to the No. 6 seed. <\/p>\n
Golden State has a chance to reclaim the No. 6 seed with a win over the Lynx on Thursday. Indiana doesn’t have any games left and lost the regular-season series with the Valkyries. <\/p>\n
The race for the No. 4 and No. 5 seed is technically still alive because the New York Liberty and Phoenix Mercury each have one game remaining, but both teams face already-eliminated teams. <\/p>\n
The same situation is in play for the No. 2 seed. The Las Vegas Aces will finish ahead of the Atlanta Dream as long as both teams beat already-eliminated sides. Atlanta plays the Connecticut Sun on Wednesday and the Aces face the Sparks on Thursday. <\/p>\n
Both the Aces and Dream are assured of starting on the opposite end of the bracket as the Lynx. <\/p>\n
Phoenix’s loss to the Sparks on Tuesday put the Mercury two games back of the Aces and Dream.<\/p>\n
