{"id":135604,"date":"2025-09-11T07:21:10","date_gmt":"2025-09-11T07:21:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/135604\/"},"modified":"2025-09-11T07:21:10","modified_gmt":"2025-09-11T07:21:10","slug":"second-teen-charged-in-gunfight-outside-york-memorial-collegiate-institute","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/135604\/","title":{"rendered":"Second teen charged in gunfight outside York Memorial Collegiate Institute"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Another 17-year-old boy is facing charges in connection with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cp24.com\/local\/toronto\/2025\/09\/05\/teen-charged-in-gunfight-outside-toronto-high-school-after-bystander-caught-in-the-crossfire-while-driving-by\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.cp24.com\/local\/toronto\/2025\/09\/05\/teen-charged-in-gunfight-outside-toronto-high-school-after-bystander-caught-in-the-crossfire-while-driving-by\/\">shooting outside of a Toronto high school<\/a> this month, Toronto police say.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ctvnews.ca\/toronto\/local\/article\/bystander-caught-in-crossfire-of-shootout-near-york-memorial-collegiate\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.ctvnews.ca\/toronto\/local\/article\/bystander-caught-in-crossfire-of-shootout-near-york-memorial-collegiate\/\">The shooting<\/a> happened right before noon on Sept. 3 in the area of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/place\/Keele+St+%26+Donald+Ave,+York,+ON+M6M+3W7\/@43.6845846,-79.4731741,19.29z\/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x882b36aadd92d7cf:0x4a30f9ad4e122fca!8m2!3d43.6849203!4d-79.4727916!16s%2Fg%2F11gf488cvt?entry=ttu&amp;g_ep=EgoyMDI1MDkwNy4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/place\/Keele+St+%26+Donald+Ave,+York,+ON+M6M+3W7\/@43.6845846,-79.4731741,19.29z\/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x882b36aadd92d7cf:0x4a30f9ad4e122fca!8m2!3d43.6849203!4d-79.4727916!16s%2Fg%2F11gf488cvt?entry=ttu&amp;g_ep=EgoyMDI1MDkwNy4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D\">Keele Street and Donald Avenue<\/a>, where police allege two groups of people exchanged gunfire. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">A 31-year-old woman, who was driving in the area at the time, was struck by gunfire, police say. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">A second victim, a 17-year-old boy, also sustained a gunshot wound, and both were taken to the hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">On Sept. 5, police say they arrested that teen, and charged him with various offences, including attempted murder, discharging a firearm in a reckless manner, and unauthorized possession of a firearm. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Authorities say that a person arrested at the scene was later released.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Days later, on Wednesday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tps.ca\/media-centre\/news-releases\/63983\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tps.ca\/media-centre\/news-releases\/63983\/\">police say they charged another teenage suspect<\/a> in connection with the gunfight. The 17-year-old is facing various charges, including attempted murder and two counts of aggravated assault. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Both suspects cannot be identified under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
