Stress, anxiety and multitasking businesswoman with headache from workload and laptop deadline in office.\" class=\"sc-86c96223-0 fHZDyi\"\/>Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>September&#8217;s back-to-it energy can leave us feeling overwhelmed and stressed<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 bJoRPJ\">Summer&#8217;s over, the holidays feel like a distant memory and suddenly the world is back at full speed. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 bJoRPJ\">And that back-to-it energy can leave many of us feeling stretched thin. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 bJoRPJ\">Stress, in small doses, can help us stay sharp but left unchecked, it can chip away at our health, mood and relationships.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 bJoRPJ\">Cortisol, often labelled as the stress hormone has become a bit of a wellness buzzword but it&#8217;s worth remembering that it isn&#8217;t the enemy &#8211; it&#8217;s what helps us wake up, stay alert, and handle challenges. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 bJoRPJ\">The trick is keeping it in balance, not eliminating it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 bJoRPJ\">Here are five simple, science-backed ways to manage stress and get back in control.<\/p>\n<p>1. Move your body<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/1757500863_786_grey-placeholder.png\" class=\"sc-86c96223-0 iMuqLZ hide-when-no-script\" aria-label=\"image unavailable\"\/><img decoding=\"async\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/608b1e40-8d77-11f0-a337-d7a51974c55f.jpg.webp.webp\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Getty Images Mature Man Exercising in a Park in the Morning \" class=\"sc-86c96223-0 fHZDyi\"\/>Getty Images<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 bJoRPJ\">The best way to physically manage stress is to exercise. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 bJoRPJ\">Exercise does the same thing to your body as stress does &#8211; it raises your heart rate, puts your blood pressure up, makes you breather faster and releases adrenaline and cortisol. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 bJoRPJ\">By exercising, your body is learning to manage the cortisol spikes and handle those surges so you&#8217;re better equipped to manage life&#8217;s bigger stresses. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 bJoRPJ\">If you&#8217;re getting stressed thinking about what exercise you&#8217;re going to do or what gym to join, remember that any form of exercise is great. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 bJoRPJ\">It doesn&#8217;t have to be anything too time consuming or high pressured &#8211; a simple walk, jog or any activity you enjoy will do the trick. <\/p>\n<p>3.
