The world of Jane Austen<\/a> is expanding a little further with more \u201cSense and Sensibility<\/a>\u201d casting. <\/p>\n

The Focus Features and Working Title iteration of the iconic novel will also star George MacKay<\/a>, \u201cOutlander\u201d actress Caitr\u00edona Balfe, Frank Dillane, Herbert Nordrum, Bodhi Rae Breathnach, and Fiona Shaw, as announced Monday. <\/p>\n

As previously reported<\/a>, Daisy Edgar-Jones<\/a> will lead as Elinor Dashwood, with Esme Creed-Miles playing Marianne Dashwood. \u201cBlue Jean\u201d filmmaker\u00a0Georgia Oakley will direct from a script by bestselling author Diana Reid. The feature has started filming in the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n

Per an earlier announcement, \u201cOriginally published anonymously with the byline reading \u2018By A Lady,\u2019 Austen\u2019s \u2018Sense and Sensibility\u2019 established her as a literary force and remains a cornerstone of English literature. The timeless exploration of restraint and passion follows sisters Elinor (Edgar-Jones) and Marianne Dashwood, opposites in their emotional approach, as they navigate love, loss, and financial uncertainty amid the societal expectations of 18th-century England. Celebrated for its wit, deep social insights, and enduring cultural relevance, the novel launched the bright career of one of history\u2019s greatest authors.\u201d<\/p>\n

Focus and Working Title return to the Austen classics: Both studios collaborated on Wright\u2019s 2005 adaptation of\u00a0\u201cPride & Prejudice\u201d and Autumn de Wilde\u2019s 2020 take on\u00a0\u201cEmma.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner of Working Title Films will produce \u201cSense and Sensibility\u201d alongside\u00a0India Flint of November Pictures and Jo Wallett.\u00a0<\/p>\n

MacKay is believed to be the male lead; he recently led a slew of 2024 indie hits such as \u201cFemme,\u201d \u201cThe Beast,\u201d and \u201cThe End.\u201d Meanwhile, Edgar-Jones has starred in \u201cTwisters\u201d and \u201cOn Swift Horses,\u201d and is set for Chloe Domont\u2019s \u201cA Place in Hell\u201d with Michelle Williams and Andrew Scott. <\/p>\n

Edgar-Jones will also shoot<\/a> Fernando Meirelles\u2019 heist thriller \u201cHere Comes the Flood\u201d for Netflix, with Denzel Washington and Robert Pattinson co-starring. The film<\/a> is billed as an \u201cunconventional heist movie about a bank guard, a teller, and a master thief in a deadly game of cons and double crosses.\u201d Meirelles directed 2019\u2019s \u201cThe Two Popes\u201d also for Netflix, and helmed \u201cThe Sympathizer\u201d and \u201cSugar\u201d for TV.
