Austin Hill, one of the rising stars of the NASCAR Xfinity Series, now finds himself in a tough spot in the 2025 playoffs<\/a>. Things took a wild turn at Indianapolis Motor Speedway when he intentionally wrecked veteran driver Aric Almirola<\/a>.<\/p>\n NASCAR<\/a> responded immediately, and Hill received a one-race suspension and lost all 21 playoff points he had worked hard to earn, according to Ryan Gaydos of Fox News<\/a>.<\/p>\n It was a serious blow to Austin Hill\u2019s championship hopes. This season, he\u2019s already racked up three wins, 12 top-ten finishes, and 5 top-fives, numbers that still give him reason to fight, even after this setback per NASCAR.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was definitely intentional,\u201d Almirola told the CW<\/a> after being released from the infield care centre. \u201cHe blocked me three times. I finally got him loose in (Turn) 3. He had damage on the nose, so he was really slow in the corners. It was time to go. I mean, we\u2019re coming to nine to go, and the leaders are starting to put a gap on us, so it\u2019s time to go.\u201d<\/p>\n Austin Hill Faces Must-Win Stretch After Playoff Points Setback<\/p>\n With those playoff points gone, Austin Hill can\u2019t afford to coast. Every race from here on is essentially a must-win. One slip, one bad call, and the season could be over.<\/p>\n \u201cIt fired me up a little more. It made me angry, but not in a way that I want to hurt anyone,\u201d Hill told journalist Joseph Srigley<\/a>. You can almost picture him gripping the steering wheel a little tighter after that Indy incident.<\/p>\n Austin Hill knows he has to either grab the checkered flag or finish near the front to stay in contention.<\/p>\n \u201cWe can still try to win a championship,\u201d he said<\/a>, showing respect for NASCAR\u2019s ruling. \u201cNASCAR has to take a stance, and they did. I\u2019m not mad at NASCAR for the decision. We got stage points and finished as best we could,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n Richard Childress Racing<\/a> accepted NASCAR\u2019s penalty and didn\u2019t appeal, leaving Hill laser-focused on what\u2019s next.
