\n\tAfter 10 years, Hannibal<\/a> creator Bryan Fuller<\/a> hopes to revive the series with an iconic leading lady taking on the portrayal of a major character.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe 2x Emmy nominee recently shared his idea for a long-overdue fourth season of the NBC<\/a> series, which ran from 2013 to 2015, starring Mads Mikkelsen<\/a> as the titular cannibalistic psychiatrist.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cMy dream project is to do a limited series of Silence of the Lambs<\/a> with Mads and Zendaya<\/a> as Clarice Starling,\u201d Fuller told ScreenRant<\/a>. \u201cIf I could put anything out into the universe, I would put that into the universe.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBased on author Thomas Harris\u2019 Red Dragon (1981), Hannibal (1999) and Hannibal Rising (2006), the series starred Hugh Dancy as FBI criminal profiler Will Graham, who hunts serial killers with help from Dr. Hannibal Lecter.<\/p>\n

\n\tMikkelsen told Deadline in 2023 \u201cthere\u2019s always a chance<\/a>\u201d he could reprise his role as Hannibal, adding: \u201cIt\u2019s all about finding a home for it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cOf course, we\u2019re running out of time,\u201d added Mikkelsen. \u201cWe can\u2019t wait 20 years, but in the next couple of years, if somebody finds a home, I think we are all ready to take it up again.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tFuller previously expressed his desire to do something with the \u201cvery fantastic\u201d character of Clarice, explaining at Comic-Con in 2015 that \u201cwe don\u2019t have rights to<\/a>\u201d the role.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe tried \u2013 every year we\u2019d go back to MGM<\/a>,\u201d he explained. \u201cAt first, it was a hard \u2018No\u2019, then it was \u2018Ask us later\u2019 and then it was \u2018Ask us again next year\u2019 \u2013 it would be fantastic [if they agreed].\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tFuller liked Elliot Page for the role, \u201cbut I also love the idea of casting somebody who\u2019s not white in that role,\u201d adding: \u201cHaving race play a factor in Clarice\u2019s background, in a way that race plays a factor in everybody\u2019s background, I think that would be an interesting exploration of the character.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Hannibal showrunner\u2019s latest comment comes after Rebecca Breeds took on the role of Starling from Harris\u2019 The Silence of the Lambs (1988) in the 2021 CBS series adaptation Clarice, which was set after the events of the book.<\/p>\n
