A new gospel-filled movie called DOT CONNER: WEBTECTIVE will teach your kids all about internet safety, star Lauryn McCardell told Movieguide\u00ae.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s often hard to control what we are bringing in, especially when you have young kids that are not always in your immediate vicinity and you can\u2019t control the media that they are taking in,\u201d McCardell, who plays Makayla Williams, said<\/a> of the digital world.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd so it touches on a lot of different things. One of them is internet safety,\u201d she added. \u201cThat\u2019s something that, of course, is important to every parent, but especially those who are really, really trying to ensure that what their kid is receiving is okay for them to receive.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2026We try to make sure that not only in the movie are we touching on what\u2019s okay to take in and what\u2019s okay to click on and not, but also just making a film that parents feel safe taking their kids to, knowing that there\u2019s nothing that\u2019s going to pop up or come up that they\u2019re uncomfortable with.\u201d<\/p>\n

The movie follows Dot Conner, an internet sleuth (or webtective), after she gets a \u201ccryptic\u201d call from her dad right before her first day of high school.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs Dot navigates the rocky start of her high school life, she uncovers the first of many clues her father has left behind, setting her on an urban treasure hunt with friends Makayla and Alex,\u201d the synopsis continues<\/a>. \u201cTheir quest leads them through the city, crossing paths with dangerous Russian thugs as they go. What begins as a search for her father quickly unravels into a much larger mystery, revealing his deep involvement in the world of espionage. Amid the chaos, Dot discovers the truth of Philippians 4:13, proving that even in the darkest times, faith can light the way.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI can do all this through him who gives me strength,\u201d the verse reads<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As any parent today knows, finding entertainment options that actually share good messages are hard to come by.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a parent, it\u2019s really hard to trust what\u2019s playing in the theaters these days,\u201d dad Stephen Laing told<\/a> DOT CONNER: WEBTECTIVE\u2019s Instagram. \u201cI\u2019m grateful for people who want to create content that is God focused and for people that my kids can look up to that have values and convictions.\u201d<\/p>\n

Movieguide\u00ae certainly agrees with Laing\u2019s assessment, giving DOT CONNER: WEBTECTIVE a +3 content rating. Part of the review reads<\/a>:<\/p>\n

DOT CONNER: WEBTECTIVE is a well-crafted, lively mystery for families. It has plenty of action, neat puzzles to solve and a fresh style. The movie has a strong Christian worldview. Many scenes feature characters discussing Bible verses and the importance of faith. Also, the heroine uses Scripture to solve mysteries and relies on her faith in tough situations. She also shares safety tips, such as cautioning against opening online messages from people you don\u2019t know. DOT CONNER: WEBTECTIVE has some brief action violence and a short bullying scene. MOVIEGUIDE\u00ae advises parental discretion for young children.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re looking for a faith-filled, digitally safe movie for your kids to watch, DOT CONNER: WEBTECTIVE is a perfect option. It will debut in select theaters on Sept. 19. Tickets<\/a> are on sale now.<\/p>\n
