ALBANY, N.Y. \u2013 University at Albany head women’s golf coach Colleen Cashman<\/a> has announced the addition of Thomas Strandemo<\/a> to the Great Danes’ coaching staff.\u00a0

\n“I’m very excited to add Thomas to our coaching staff,” said Cashman. “As a decorated collegiate and professional golfer, I look forward to him working alongside me to help support the development of our current and future student-athletes. I believe Thomas embodies what it means to be a Great Dane: leadership, hard work, and pride in our program. I have a lot of confidence in Thomas’ abilities on the golf course and out in the recruiting world, and I have no doubt he will help our team continue to raise the bar year after year.”\u00a0

\nStrandemo brings a wide range of competitive experience to UAlbany. A standout at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette as a Ragin’ Cajun, he earned Sun Belt Conference All-Tournament honors in 2014 and was a two-time Cleveland Golf\/Srixon All-America Scholar. He graduated with a degree in management and a minor in international business, receiving the Delta Sigma Pi Scholarship Key as the top graduate in the College of Business.\u00a0

\nAs an amateur, Strandemo captured medalist honors at the 2014 U.S. Amateur Public Links qualifier and advanced to match play at the championship. He also earned multiple top finishes at the Qatar Amateur Open between 2014\u20132018 and won both the Minnesota State Junior Championship (2010) and The Resorters\u00a0Tournament (2015).\u00a0

\nSince turning professional in 2018, Strandemo has competed across the globe, including events in the United States, Europe, South Africa, and the Middle East. Most recently, he placed third at the Sunshine Tour’s first stage qualifying school in Johannesburg and tied for 24th at the final stage to narrowly miss full tour status.\u00a0

\nOriginally from Minnesota, Strandemo spent much of his childhood overseas in China and the Middle East. He and his wife, Danielle, recently relocated to the Capital Region and enjoy exploring the outdoors of the Northeast.\u00a0
