{"id":137783,"date":"2025-09-12T04:45:17","date_gmt":"2025-09-12T04:45:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/137783\/"},"modified":"2025-09-12T04:45:17","modified_gmt":"2025-09-12T04:45:17","slug":"former-oilers-goalie-unexpectedly-has-contract-terminated","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/137783\/","title":{"rendered":"Former Oilers Goalie Unexpectedly Has Contract Terminated"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p>PUBLICATION<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.houseofhockey.net\/collaborators\/tom-banks\" class=\"lediv\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tom Banks<\/a><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tSeptember 11, 2025\u00a0\u00a0(9:39 PM)<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/595208.webp.webp\" style=\"width:100%;\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Olivier Rodrigue with the Edmonton Oilers.\" title=\"Olivier Rodrigue with the Edmonton Oilers.\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Photo credit: RDS<\/p>\n<p>Olivier Rodrigue could never quite make it in the NHL, and now the former Oilers goaltender has had his contract in the KHL officially terminated.<\/p>\n<p>The Edmonton Oilers have had troubles finding a star goaltender for quite some time, and in recent years, the team had hopes that Olivier Rodrigue could potentially step up and make an NHLer of himself.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, he wasn&#8217;t able to do that, as he posted a 3.12 GAA and an .897 save percentage for the AHL&#8217;s Bakersfield Condors a year ago, and despite making his NHL debut with the team, he wasn&#8217;t able to keep his spot this off-season.<\/p>\n<p>Rodrigue has his KHL contract terminated shortly after signing there<\/p>\n<p>This off-season, <a href=\"https:\/\/oilersnation.com\/news\/former-edmonton-oilers-prospect-olivier-rodrigue-contract-terminated-khl\" class=\"lien_marqueur\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">the 25-year old signed<\/a> with Barys Astana in the KHL in Russia, but before making an appearance, the team announced in a statement that his contract had been terminated.Due to an injury sustained during training, Olivier Rodrigue underwent an in-depth medical examination, which revealed an injury requiring additional treatment.
