{"id":140091,"date":"2025-09-13T03:18:17","date_gmt":"2025-09-13T03:18:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/140091\/"},"modified":"2025-09-13T03:18:17","modified_gmt":"2025-09-13T03:18:17","slug":"f1-today-verstappen-ready-for-nordschleife-sits-in-gt4-car-today","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/140091\/","title":{"rendered":"F1 Today | Verstappen ready for Nordschleife, sits in GT4 car today"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As always, let\u2019s take a look at the two main news stories from today, Friday, 12 September, in the world of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gpblog.com\/en\/formula-1\" title=\"Formula 1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Formula 1<\/a>.<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/20250907-0712-68c06e09244fa.jpg@webp.webp\" class=\"w-auto\" alt=\"20250907-0712\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Max Verstappen doesn&#8217;t have an off weekend after his Italian GP triumph, Source: Race Pictures<\/p>\n<p>Today, the four-time world champion visited the legendary German circuit with the aim of completing the mandatory training and obtaining the DMSB Permit Nordschleife, which is required to take part in the renowned NLS (N\u00fcrburgring Endurance Series).<\/p>\n<p>If he successfully passes the test\u2014which includes both a practical on-track assessment and a theoretical exam afterward\u2014Verstappen will be able to race this weekend in the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 CS of the Lionspeed GP team, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gpblog.com\/en\/news\/verstappen-arrives-to-the-track-ahead-of-nordschleife-challenge\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">already spotted earlier today. <\/a><\/p>\n<p>This would represent the first step towards his next, and openly stated, goal: competing in the GT3 class.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/verstappen-wins-2025-italian-gp-68c456bd94431.jpg@webp.webp\" class=\"w-auto\" alt=\"verstappen-wins-2025-italian-gp\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Max Verstappen, winner of 2025 Italian GP @ RacePictures<\/p>\n<p>The Australian left Formula 1 after he was replaced by Liam Lawson at the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix by Racing Bulls, going on to retire just a few months later.<\/p>\n<p>However, his time in racing is far from over, as it was announced that the 36-year-old would become an ambassador of Ford, while also announcing a complete retirement from racing altogether.<\/p>\n<p>Ford will return to the world of\u00a0F1 after a 22-year absence from the sport, collaborating with Red Bull on their powertrain for the 2026 season as it moves on from their historical collaboration with Honda.<\/p>\n<p>With Ford joining forces with the Austrian team, it marks a return for Ricciardo to the Red Bull family he was a part of for the majority of his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gpblog.com\/en\/f1\" title=\"F1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">F1<\/a> career. \u00a0&#8220;I&#8217;m sure everybody will love to see Daniel back in the paddock, and we are going to perhaps have that thanks to Ford Racing,&#8221;
