Clients are editing and investing\u2014fewer, better, and with a story,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n<p>In: Collector\u2019s Paradise<img draggable=\"true\" alt=\"michael ellison\" title=\"michael ellison\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"3000\" height=\"2001\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" style=\"color:transparent;width:100%;height:auto;\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/bz3-living-room-005-68a4bb92e5ee2.jpg\" class=\"css-0 e1g79fud0\"\/><\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"16\" class=\"css-i9p093 emevuu60\">\u201cNobody is asking for minimalism,\u201d Mitsakos says. \u201cPeople want to become collectors. They suddenly want coffee tables full of adornments.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"17\" class=\"css-i9p093 emevuu60\">This shift towards what Mitsakos calls \u201ccollector\u2019s layering\u201d means mantels and tablescapes loaded with small-scale sculptures, ceramics, and found objects\u2014but with purpose. Beth Dotolo of <a href=\"https:\/\/pulpdesignstudios.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/pulpdesignstudios.com\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"Pulp Design Studios\" data-node-id=\"17.1\" class=\"body-link css-1c3jgal emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Pulp Design Studios<\/a> is seeing clients embrace \u201cbold patterns\u201d and \u201cpersonalized looks,\u201d and notes that mixing and layering is resonating across all markets.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"18\" class=\"css-i9p093 emevuu60\">Carolina V. Gentry, also of Pulp Design Studios, is particularly excited about the death of mass-produced wall candy: &#8220;The one thing we&#8217;re thrilled that clients no longer ask for is decorator art. Original art is so much better for showcasing personality and life in your home.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Out: Shiny Everything<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"20\" class=\"css-i9p093 emevuu60\">The mirror-and-chrome moment has run its course. Mitsakos is loving \u201csubstantial craft and patina\u201d\u2014think mixed warm metals (bronze, aged brass, hammered copper), matte glazes, hand-stitched edges, and imperfect rims. \u201cPeople want to feel the hand in the work,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"26\" class=\"css-i9p093 emevuu60\">Deborah Wecselman of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wecselmandesign.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.wecselmandesign.com\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"Wecselman Design \" data-node-id=\"26.1\" class=\"body-link css-1c3jgal emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Wecselman Design <\/a>is seeing ceramics having a major moment, both in finishes and as handcrafted objects that add soulful layers to interiors, she says. And don\u2019t sleep on textiles: Mitsakos notes that heirloom-quality throws, table linens, and vintage or hand-loomed pieces are back in rotation, whether draped over sofas, stacked on benches, or placed under trays.<\/p>\n<p>Out: Cookie-Cutter Perfection<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"28\" class=\"css-i9p093 emevuu60\">The showroom look is toast. Mitsakos is seeing the end of matching sets, with \u201cidentical pairs and showroom sets giving way to collected, time-layered mixes\u2014old with new, refined with rustic,\u201d she says.
