id=\"5306c671-e683-4d98-b335-4aba0c2c91ee\">Koepka fought back valiantly on Friday with a superb 68, including three birdies and an eagle on his closing nine, but it wasn&#8217;t enough to claw himself back from a difficult opening round.<\/p>\n<p><a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.golfmonthly.com\/news\/brooks-koepka-major-wins-how-many-has-he-won\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.golfmonthly.com\/news\/brooks-koepka-major-wins-how-many-has-he-won\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The five-time Major champion<\/a> and LIV Golf star played his final four holes in three-over on Thursday to shoot himself out of the tournament.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s his second consecutive missed cut after also going home early at the Irish href=\"https:\/\/www.golfmonthly.com\/news\/billy-horschel-return-injury-surgery-bmw-pga-championship\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.golfmonthly.com\/news\/billy-horschel-return-injury-surgery-bmw-pga-championship\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">making his first start since April after undergoing hip surgery.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Like Koepka, Horschel bounced back well on Friday with a two-under-par 70, but his slow start on Thursday, where he shot 73, ultimately proved too costly.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-b6540dda-ce3a-47b7-aed5-1b2c51bc702e\" data-url=\"\" href=\"\" data-hl-processed=\"none\"\/>Corey Conners: -1 (76-67)<\/p>\n<p class=\"vanilla-image-block\" id=\"2291ca18-6f88-4f8b-b8a5-4a58d170e8d2\">PGA Tour star Conners was making a rare DP World Tour appearance and he is another to have missed the cut at Wentworth, in what was his tournament debut.<\/p>\n<p>The Canadian had an uncharacteristically poor first round, where he bogeyed two of his first three holes and also double-bogeyed the par-5 17th.<\/p>\n<p>He was superb on Friday, with seven birdies, but his 76-67 scores were just one stroke too high to advance through to the weekend.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-9bf008ce-dfe0-4585-8258-7b3a08781c85\" data-url=\"\" href=\"\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.golfmonthly.com\/news\/rasmus-hojgaard-european-ryder-cup-automatic-qualifying\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Rasmus Hojgaard took the final automatic spot for Luke Donald&#8217;s Ryder Cup side<\/a> last month but the captain will have some slight concern after a difficult two days for the Dane.<\/p>\n<p>He finished with three consecutive birdies to improve his score, but six bogeys and four doubles for 36 holes is a disappointing return for the 24-year-old.<\/p>\n<p>It is his sixth missed cut of the year.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"babfd17e-cdf6-40ad-8552-462375bebce8\">Rasmus&#8217; twin brother Nicolai didn&#8217;t fare any better, with the 2023 Ryder Cupper also comfortably missing the cut.<\/p>\n<p>Nicolai shot a
