{"id":140926,"date":"2025-09-13T12:09:10","date_gmt":"2025-09-13T12:09:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/140926\/"},"modified":"2025-09-13T12:09:10","modified_gmt":"2025-09-13T12:09:10","slug":"a-potential-innovative-design-path","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/140926\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;A potential innovative design path&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\" width=\"1920\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/negative-triangularityimage-recw6lPF1pHgXaNhU.jpg\" class=\"wp-post-image featured-image\" alt=\"The community has been \u201csurprised\u201d by the outcome of these experiments.\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Photo Credit: DIII-D National Fusion Facility\n<\/p>\n<p>Experiments at San Diego&#8217;s DIII-D National Fusion Facility have demonstrated that a new plasma configuration could help increase the stability of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecooldown.com\/green-tech\/fusion-power-plant-commercial-us-mit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">tokamak fusion reactors<\/a> and inform future designs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Nuclear fusion holds the promise of virtually limitless energy with a low-carbon impact, and new discoveries are helping to speed its development from theoretical to real-world applications.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/interestingengineering.com\/energy\/us-inverted-d-plasma-fusion-breakthrough\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">report<\/a> by Interesting Engineering shared that a plasma configuration known as &#8220;negative triangularity&#8221; has shown that it can meet the high-performance conditions needed for a sustained fusion reaction, while also addressing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecooldown.com\/green-tech\/marvel-project-coolant-system-nuclear-reactors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">heat-management challenges<\/a> inside the reactor.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In fusion reactions, atoms are fused together to produce energy similar to the natural process that occurs inside the sun. Those particles need to be heated to over <a href=\"https:\/\/usfusionenergy.org\/science-fusion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">180,000,000 degrees<\/a> Fahrenheit to maintain a reaction and generate energy consistently.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Doughnut-shaped tokamak devices <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecooldown.com\/green-tech\/clean-energy-fusion-scientists-breakthrough\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">magnetically<\/a> confine superheated plasma, and to maximize energy output, plasma pressure, current, and density must all be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecooldown.com\/green-tech\/nuclear-fusion-power-plant-uk-plasma-gyrotron\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">maintained<\/a> at high levels, the U.S. Department of Energy explained in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.energy.gov\/science\/fes\/articles\/inverted-plasma-shape-shows-promise-future-fusion-power-plant-design\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">statement<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The negative triangularity method adjusts the shape of the plasma flow within a tokamak into an inverted &#8220;D&#8221; shape, so that the curve points towards the interior wall of the reactor.<\/p>\n<p>             &#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n\t                         &#13;<br \/>\n                  &#13;<br \/>\n                    &#13;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t&#13;<br \/>\n                      &#13;<br \/>\n                      &#13;<br \/>\n                      <a href=\"https:\/\/go.linkby.com\/TQMCOTQN\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Untitled-design-53-e1757627735140.png\" width=\"560\" height=\"400\" style=\"display:block;width:100%;height:auto;\"\/><\/a>&#13;<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" style=\"color:#360499;text-decoration:underline\" href=\"https:\/\/go.linkby.com\/TQMCOTQN\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Garden of Life\u2019s<\/a> clean vitamins and supplements are made with pure, whole-food ingredients to support your health and everyday wellbeing.
