\n\tFifty years ago this month, Fleetwood Mac<\/a> released their self-titled 1975 album, which featured two new members: a young couple named Lindsey Buckingham<\/a> and Stevie Nicks<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tAs the story goes<\/a>, the two musicians \u2014 who performed as the duo Buckingham Nicks \u2014 released their self-titled 1973 album, but it flopped and they were dropped by Polydor. Nicks began working at the Beverly Hills restaurant called Clementine\u2019s, until their Buckingham Nicks producer Keith Olsen played the album for Mick Fleetwood<\/a>. When Bob Welch left the group, Buckingham and Nicks joined Fleetwood Mac on New Year\u2019s Eve 1974. \u201cI said, \u2018That\u2019s it, I\u2019m never looking at another price tag,\u2019\u201d she recalled<\/a> in 2015. \u201cAnd I meant it.\u201d\u00a0The rest is history.<\/p>\n

\n\tFleetwood Mac, which opens with Buckingham\u2019s \u201cMonday Morning\u201d and features Nicks\u2019 \u201cRhiannon,\u201d was released on July 11, 1975. In a new Instagram post, Fleetwood reminisced about this moment that changed the band forever, playing the Buckingham Nicks\u2019 closer \u201cFrozen Love\u201d on headphones.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWoo! Unbelievable!\u201d he said. \u201cThe marriage of Stevie and Lindsey, the marriage of coming into Fleetwood Mac when they did, it\u2019s all in the song. It\u2019s in the music that played on for so many years. It\u2019s magic then, it\u2019s magic now. What a thrill, what a thrill. Amen.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tThis particular lineup of Fleetwood Mac played their last full concert together in July 2017,<\/a> though their final performance was technically their brief set at the MusiCares event at Radio City Music Hall in January 2018 \u2014 which wasn\u2019t pleasant for the band. <\/p>\n

You could not say that I did not give him more than 300 million chances.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe band fired Buckingham<\/a> shortly after, replacing him<\/a> with Mike Campbell, the former guitarist of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and Crowded House\u2019s Neil Finn. The last show of that tour was in November 2019<\/a>, and Christine McVie died<\/a> in Nov. 2022.
