SIOUX FALLS, S.D. \u2014 The South Dakota Coyotes Women’s Tennis team concluded the first day of competition at the Augustana Invite, held in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The day commenced at 9:00 a.m. at Tomar Park with singles matches. The Coyotes first victory was secured by Natalia Alves De Lima, who triumphed in straight sets, 7-6, 7-5. She then advanced to the semifinals of her bracket with a hard-fought three-set win, 6-7, 6-3, 10-7, and is set to compete in the finals tomorrow.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Coach Zinchenko shared his thoughts following the team’s first day of competition.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0“It was great to see all ladies in action and get a chance to coach them on the court during an actual match. It was definitely eye-opening and gave me a lot of food for thought in terms of what things we can work on. I think the ladies performed as well as I was expecting them to perform considering the fact that they are still adjusting to new coaching staff and have only spent a couple weeks working under mine and Mieke’s leadership. \nDoubles play began at 5:30 p.m., highlighted by Selena Bird’s<\/a> quarterfinal victory alongside an unexpected doubles partner. Grace Greenwald of Omaha, who was without a doubles partner due to injury, teamed up with Bird following a similar situation on the South Dakota roster. Despite being Summit League rivals, the duo collaborated effectively to secure an 8-3 win. \u00a0<\/p>\n
