Former LIV Golf<\/a> chief executive Greg Norman has confirmed he will no longer have any association with the PIF-backed league.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Two-time Open champion Norman<\/a>, now 70 years old, has been instrumental in the rise of the breakaway tour since its inception in June 2022.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Under The Great White Shark’s tenure, LIV attracted several major champions from the PGA Tour<\/a> which upended the status quo in the game.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He was involved in several controversies, chief of which were his comments about the murdered Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Norman also feuded publicly with Rory McIlroy<\/a> and Tiger Woods<\/a>, describing the former as “brainwashed” and the latter as “a mouthpiece” for the PGA Tour.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He was officially replaced at the helm at the turn of the year by Scott O’Neil and it was understood Norman would remain in some capacity.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But he has now confirmed that after “four unforgettable years” he has officially closed out his time with LIV Golf.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Norman said he looks back on his time with gratitude and pride, adding: “Together we built a movement that changed the game globally.<\/p>\n

“We created opportunities for both players and fans and broaden the ecosystem of golf.<\/p>\n

“We truly globalized the game and expanded golf’s reach to fans around the world.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“We brought entertainment, innovation and private equity into golf (including to the PGA Tour<\/a>) positioning the sport as an asset class.<\/p>\n

“It’s been an incredible chapter, and I’m so proud of what we accomplished. My commitment to do what was and still is, the right thing for golf, the players and fans never waivered.<\/p>\n

“Thank you to everyone who has been part of the journey with me during this time. I’ll always look back on this time with great fulfilment and appreciation.”<\/p>\n

LIV Golf recently completed their third full season.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Jon Rahm<\/a> won the individual title for the second consecutive year, while his Legion XII quarter triumphed at the team championship.\u00a0<\/p>\n

LIV’s 2025 campaign gets underway next February under the lights in Saudi Arabia.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Over the next few months, there will certainly be more speculation over the next wave of signings.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Henrik Stenson, Mito Pereira and Anthony Kim were among those relegated<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n
